I have been away working in a Regional area and while I was waiting for my flight yesterday I managed to have a look at the first half of the game on Channel 7.

Firstly let me congratulate the club for coinciding the Junior parade day with the TV coverage. The ground looked fantastic on TV and the kids on the banks added to the atmosphere. It showed Bassendean in its full splendour as a great place to watch the footy with the family. I have to say I was impressed with the channel 7 coverage ( apart from the infuriating commercials after every goal – I am too used to Fox Footy). The camera angles they used were great and showed the stands and the sun drenched outer, we even got a few shots of the can bars! The commentary was reasonable too.

In regards to the game, I thought Swans first quarter was easily their best of the season and my thoughts were confirmed when Harding said so in his quarter time interview. Their disposal by hand and foot in the quarter was fantastic, not sure what their disposal efficiency % was but it must have been very high. When East Perth had the ball our chasing and pressure was fantastic and this inevitably led to the opposition turning the ball over.

In the 2nd quarter East Perth worked themselves back into the game and were dominating towards the end of the 1st half. They would have gone in to the break with a lead if they had not wasted so many opportunities in front of goal.

I didn’t see any of the 2nd half because I had a plane to catch but given that East Perth seemed to have the momentum at half time, I wasn’t really surprised to discover that they had rolled us. It did stick in my craw a bit, like it would have for most Swans supporters, that Darling was the game breaker, I wouldn’t have had any problem if he had done that for WEST Perth.

There were a lot of positives for Swans from the half of footy I saw, Donovan looks a really likely type, speedy and good around the goals. Jukes and Cary seem to be getting their mojo back. Great to see Banfield back. If Swans can play like they did in the first quarter for longer periods they are certainly going to improve their win/loss ratio.

Looking to the immediate future, Swans now have 3 consecutive away games would you believe (against EF, P and SF). Our next home game is against the team we played yesterday, work that one out if you can. We would need to win 2 of these at an absolute minimum to stay in the hunt for a top 5 position, 3 out of 4 would be better.

To qualify I reckon we would need 10 wins as our percentage is pretty good at the moment so to do this we need to win 6 of our last 10. Swans only have 4 home games left, so we will need to snatch some wins away.

What exactly is Dean Turner's role these days- chief umpire basher maybe?
Nisbett would be the decision maker of that club, no wonder poor old feeling totally inadequate Dick has to come out in the media to bag the umpires (seems to have worked too judging by yesterday's game) it would be the only time he gets to have any say down there!!

I didn't refer to injuries yesterday just countering the nonsense that some teams have had easy games over EP thus rigging the draw. Good post Mike as usual the only Swans supporter with anything sensible to say. No point going to the huddle because Dawson is a quite talker can't hear anything. I thought the start of the game was very high quality a feature Swans lovely kicking skills.

Looking at the EP lineup you picked a Good team from EP to play or possibly their A side.
Considering that the scoreline was pretty close no disgrace to you in losing Looking at their lineup and yours

I think EP having Darling in the side made the difference with his 5 goals (obviously)
I noticed Hutchy was in for EP as well a top player along with a few others.

This is the problem we have with these aligned sides..

Bad luck Swannies maybe next time they will have key players out.

I must admit your effort was commendable considering your OUTS and the EP EAGLES INS

LB of all the fatuous comments that have been made on this forum your comment is one of the elite. Would I want my club to change places with your "club"? Unequivocally and unambiguously NO. I would prefer my club to die with dignity than be the sham, farce and prostituted club that yours has become.

S42 you are the biggest sour grapes merchant on this forum so your comments are a bit rich. This forum is just an outlet for mainly Swans and West Perth fans to complain about why the world is against them. Hardly anyone talks about football anymore, just conspiracies and sledging of the ompetition.

It is probably why the other WAFL forum is doing so well. Lots of talk about the footy and the competition. Great previews and reviews of the games where everyone can give their opinion without being shouted down or accused of being some journo or WAFC official in real life (as if they would bother checking opinions and news on here). Great mix of supporters from all nine WAFL clubs and great banter between everyone without the crap that goes on here.

Best part is it is invite only so it keeps those who ruin the place away (also makes it easy to revoke memberships if people get out of line). About 50 members who all contribute, who all have different usernames so they start fresh. Gather there is propably people still on here that are on the new forum but thats why a lot of the quality posters have gone missing from here and its just the leftovers.

Obviously because Ive been critical of Swans this post might be deleted like it has in the past so I'll leave you with "Go Subi, back to back!".

Watched the replay today and reckon SD were harshly dealt with. That said it happens to most clubs. Get on the horse and go again

Hah good old Barney and the old my forum is better than your forum.
He has a whinge about people having a whinge.
Without doubt one of the funnier episodes on here was barney talking about Swans being over the salary cap cos Ron and Bruce said so, comedy at its best

Barney:

point number 1 if you don't like what is said on this forum ABSOLUTELY NO-ONE is forcing you to reaid or comment.

point number 2 I make no apologies for stating the FACTS about the host club alignment and the complete prostitution of the WAFL competition.

point number 3 most assuredly if the WAFC were not interested in this forum and any comments posted on here perhaps you could explain why a topic on here was removed which included comments from one of those officials?

point number 4 the damage done by the host club alignment was there for everyone to see at Basso Oval yesterday. A paltry representation of East Perth supporters around the "East Perth" huddle at 1/4 and 3/4 time clearly and succinctly indicated the damage that has been done by those who made the decision to have a host club alignment. It is patently not true that the small numbers around the huddle was due to Dawson's quiet talking; when he was at Swans there were huge numbers around the huddles despite his quiet talk.

point number 5 I have absolutely no intention to desist from highlighting the damage and continuing damage to the WAFL competiton through the host club alignment.

In summary Barney I am completely ambivalent whether you read comments or post on this forum or choose to remove yourself from this forum in the future.

Barney given this website is obviously well below your high standards of football debate, I would have thought that you would have wiped it from your browser and refrained from checking the ''poor quality'' posts and god forbid responding to them......or is it just a habit of yours of poking the hornets nest to see what response you can get. Try not to fall off your high and mighty perch.
