skill level was pathetic, quite a few blokes were selfish and didnt put in at at if they didnt win the footy, no 2nd efforts and I would be sending Jukes back to the reserves for not passing to Notte 40 metres in space near goals, selfish footy is not needed.
big Blakely needs a rest and quite a few others looked very flat, Davis and Riggs especially.
well done to Blight who played one of his best games and with Elari, Jetts and Ugle never stopped trying.

I will thank West Perth for playing the way they did and stopped us from losing by 20 goals, the stats were 438 to 315 and 172 marks to 59 yet only won by 10 goals.
that passage of play where they kicked it to themselves for 5 minutes without trying to score meant i could get a coffee and come back and the ball still hadnt gone inside the WP 50.
strange footy from a side looking to make the finals and get precentage.

10 goals is a fair shellacking in anyones terms, I wasn't overly thrilled with the ginning around but when you have been watching the shit we have dished up and continue to lose by small margins, I couldn't of cared less!

The other thing is you blokes have won about 5/6 games from deficits of greater than 36+ points so Im starting to get it !

I think the point MO and I are alluding to is they you were totally dominating the match and given that dominance if you had chosen to play direct footy you would have had a 100+ point vitory. Instead your team decided to spend several minutes irrationally chipping the ball around at the back racking up meaningless stats.

considering how bad Swans played 10 goals was a good result and I appreciated the way West Perth played - it enabled me to get a coffee and get a colts report and the ball still was getting kicked around our 50 and at that stage we were 7 goals behind and hadnt scored a goal just before half time in perfect conditions.
one has to look for positives on a day like that.

2. Swans half time score of 0-1 ( which was a rushed behind) got me thinking about whether they had ever failed to score in an entire half. I can't remember it happening while I have been supporting them but maybe in the early days of the club when they were perennial cellar dwellars. Don't know if your stats cover this WAFL Footy Facts?

This was our least points scored in a first half as stated on my review, previous was 0.2 v Claremont in R11, 1964. We have also scored 0.1 in second half v EF in Round 18,1998. Swans have twice failed to score in 2 quarters vs EP first time against In R18, 1939 (1st & 3rd) then in R14, 1948 (2nd & 4th) and once vs Perth in R14, 1973 (2nd & 4th) but never in consecutive quarters.

and the point we scored was kicked by a West Perth player.
for a game played in perfect conditions it was a very strange game - 753 disposals for only 19 goals.

and West Perth took 172 marks which must be a record.

I understand both your points and I wasn't thrilled either, but I don't think 5 minutes of footy equates to another 40 points, also your ability to come back was clearly respected by WP !

I saw it a little bit differently. Obviously Harding had put everyone behind the ball to try and stem the momentum and the West Perth players were in turn trying to draw them out of their defensive structure by passing the ball around in the backline. Actually it was this play that led to our only score of the first half via a miskick  . It appeared to me that West Perth were holding possession trying to frustrate our guys which was a strategy that obviously worked given that 3 Swans players were reported in the game

This 5min you are talking about started at the 20min mark of the 2nd qtr...1 can't blame WP for ensuring they kept us goalless for a half.... from a team perspective it's gotta feel good and breed confidence when you can shut out the opposition for an entire half

not sure what West Perth were worried about, we gave them the footy back every time we got it anyway.
