Yes fair enough and they have achieved a lot this year but I guess their efforts in the first half of the season have created an expectation that they can play a lot better than they did today. As I said on another post, I can cope with the fact that Swans are beaten by more talented or better teams. What I find hard to take is when players don't have the pride to try their guts out and make the opposition earn their victory. Apart from Jarrod Blight and one or two others, nobody wanted to even compete today. It was as a complete surrender as I have seen from a Swans team for many years

Not 100% sure yet Winger as he was whisked away to get fully checked out but it didnt look good at all.

Spoke to Tallen in the dugout at 3qtr time BH,,,. He said he was fine, just a little hazy.... I told him when he lands back on earth not to forget he's a bloody champion of the game...got a smile and a thanks mate which suggested he's not too bad....what I should have told him in hindsight is that he's a 10 goal a game full forward....we are going to need one in coming weeks the way our forwards combined today.
Hate to say it might be all over but Swoop has been a very angry & frustrated player over past 2 games, last week he remonstrated and argued with his own all game and this week with his opponents, he's always been a little partial to the odd temper outburst, reminds me a bit of Richo at times but what I saw today was a bloke that couldn't get near the footy and frustrated himself outta the game which is usually a sign that the game is catching up on a player. Having said that he's a champion of our club and the WAFL and has earned the right to play a few quiet ones. Just hope he can keep positive, play a role and continue to organise our young forward line, He still gets the best defender on most occasions so maybe he needs to make space for the younger fellas. I don't recall Ricky Cary touching the ball today, stand to be corrected there, but surely it doesn't help a young fella who is having a quiet one get himself in to the game when he sees Swoop carrying on like a pork chop when things aren't going his way.

My first trip to Joondy, nice facilities they got out there and note to Claremont FC free parking even though they have staff on hand to direct cars etc, the chips were hot n crispy although a steep $4 for about 20c worth of spud but cant question the quality, even the home crowd was pretty easy on our mob considering the insipid display our blokes put up. First time I've ever been to a swans football match and felt like it was a complete waste of the $15 entry fee. That's all I will say about today, best not to dwell on it and write it off as beaten by a much hungrier side on the day....best we find our hunger again if we want to avoid an embarrassment like today in future. Maybe the day trip to Bunbury will be a good opportunity for the boys to find their bond again because today a bunch of individuals forgot to knuckle down together and paid the price. We can't continue to start games half asleep, simple as that. It's the one thing Harding hasn't been able to fix all season and today it came home to roost.

Best wishes to Tallen on a quick recovery....and good luck to the team in Bunbury next week. Unfortunately i don't get to go to the home game I've been looking forward to all season, they've robbed us of it. Will be a long drive home for those who do make the trip if today's effort level gets replicated.

mikeh wrote: Just to cheer us all up, I just read on the WAFL website that Swoop, Jetta and Rodgers were all reported after today's game. I saw the Swoop one and he may not be playing next week IMO. Probably frustration but no excuse for playing outside the rules

Mikeh I didn't see the incident but it doesn't surprise me that we had some players reported. However there may have been extenuating circumstances . . .

With respect to the game today it probably has been, as mentioned above, several weeks in the making. It was an ordinary performance from most of the players today. Some very poor decisions from most of the team. If we are to take anything from today's game and it may be tenuous but we have to take something out of the game is that when the boys came off the ground they looked gutted. If that is the case then it will be interesting to see how they react next Saturday. I suspect that we will see a very positive reaction next Saturday.

Also, out colts' team have struggled in recent weeks.

DW thanks for the report on Amesy. With respect to us Swans' supporters we are a resilient and after today, hopefully forgiving, group. It seems that a reasonable number of supporters are planning to go to then game on Saturday. I expect a positive response from the boys on Saturday.

Is love to go swan but I work Saturday mornings so couldn't make it down in time for the match, physically impossible with a 1pm finish

Understand DW - we will kick an extra goal for you in your absence.

by the way the colts and ressies games will be played on the Sunday at Basso: colts at the normal ressies time (around 11 am) and ressies at the normal league time. Hopefully, there will be a reasonable crowd at Basso on the Sunday and on a high after a victory against the Eagles' reserves.

I think this games been coming for a while. Let's face it we have been very ordinary since subi touched us up at home several weeks ago and all the other teams have figured us out.now.
What concerns me is that we have been flogged in the middle for weeks now and Harding hasn't done anything about it. We just can't clear it. If you look at it today we had Blight on Kerr until half time who held him to just 7 possessions and was probably our only player we had on the field all day !! Then when Ames got knocked out they moved Blighty to the back line ( again ) and Kerr raked up another 32 possessions in HALF a game & Nelson had 44 in the midfield. We had 1 clearance after half time and Falkner turned the ball over even then. Why oh why didn't Harding make a change in the middle. The game was over at half time so we needed to roll the dice to see what works.
As I see it we need some tall's , smarts and toughs in the middle. Time to move Blight to centre, Boekhorst into the square and bring in Davis as well. Push Faulkner and Elari onto the wings until after the bounce. Boekhorst and Davis go offensive and Blight sweeps back defensive.
We should also invite the Bassendean under 12s down to training to give the boys kicking lessons !!!

I booked rooms in Bunbury for next week thinking it would be good to see how we stack up against the Eagles on neutral ground. I think I may have wasted my money and fuel if today's performance is any indicator.

Even Harding seemed a bit lethargic today when addressing the team in the huddles. He is usually a lot more animated at the breaks.
