Singleton, are you saying the coach questioned Wes' injury and character and he then walked. If that is the case, I'm not sure about the injury but his character is seriously flawed.

Singleton wrote: Wes Lammie did not leave because he was told he was playing reserves. He knew he couldn't return from injury and walk straight back in to the league side and was prepared to play reserves.

Harding questioned Wes's injury, character and commitment to the club which Wes took great offence to as Wes is the hardest working and most committed player at swans.

People may say "but Wes went to Peel a few years ago"...my response to that is that all Wes wants to do is play the best football he can. He commits so much time and effort to football. When he made the decision to try with Peel he was completing against Spaanderman for the #1 ruck spot at Swans. Llane would walk in and out and of the club; dish up crap and still be given the #1 spot, so who could blame Wes for wanting to try and get the best out of his football somewhere else. Llane held that #1 ruck man title and with that title came credit, so if Wes and Llane were both fit, Llane would get the nod over Wes because he was #1. Wes asked the question that if he made it through the week in the reserves and has a good game does he come in...? Put it this way, if this weeks game was a grand final who would be playing if both ruck man were fit?? If your answer isn't Wes then your kidding yourself.

There are always things at a football club that are behind closed doors that happen that most will probably never hear or know about, but in this case there are other factors at play. There are always 2 sides to every story, so lets find out both sides and stop labelling Wes as a bad person or disloyal to the club he puts so much time and effort in to.

Has anyone actually spoken to Greg or Wes about this???

As a Swans member I find your insight very disappointing Singleton and you do seem to have inside knowledge about what went on in this situation. Disappointing to the extent that if the coach and the player have a disagreement surely there is a process in the club to sort the issue out without the player having to walk out. Maybe Harding was having a bad day when he had a crack at him because he has been full of praise for Wes at other times

I can't put myself in Wes's shoes so maybe what Harding said was the last straw even though on the surface it would appear to be an overreaction. If you don't know Wes personally, how can people come on here and start making 'amateur psychology' character assessments when we don't know all the facts.

All I know is that Swans have lost a ruckman that they have carefully developed over the past 2 years and who has improved a lot in that time. You can only improve through hard work and commitment, so I cannot understand why Swans would want to throw all that away without at least trying to talk to him. Maybe they are I'm not sure.

Finals are looking a distant dream at the moment because every team in the top 4 has at least one experienced big man, we have now lost ours it seems.

Thanks for all the service Wes and good luck in your footy wherever you land.

Whichever version of events you want to believe,it doesn't hide from the fact that there is issues within the playing group that can be attributed to either a very bad playing culture or unrest with the coach. I would say its a bit of both which has developed over the last few years. What the powers that be need to decide is whether the issues with the coach are to far gone.
Can we afford to pay him out? Who replaces him? Will players walk at seasons end if he stays? Will more players walk before seasons end if he stays? Do we get rid of the players who won't toe the line?
As I've stated, the issues aren't just with the league side. I'd say part of the reason that the colts have been pushed up to the Reserves is because we've had to in order to field a team. Several fringe league/reserves players have walked for whatever reason.

Si Singo, you are saying that Wes left because Harding hurt his feelings and would not promise him a game?

I hope that is not the case mate but you seem pretty close to 'someone'

If that is the case I congratulate our coach and hope he keeps it up. Our problem has been that it seems some players believe they are bigger than the team!!!

Singleton, it is my belief that Harding chose Lammie over Spandermann at one stage a couple of seasons ago. As a consequence Spandermann left the club. Whilst I have no knowledge of the conversation between Harding and Lammie which you mention; in my opinion I think that Lobb should have been selected in the league team last Saturday. On the premise that the conversation you outlined occurred, it is disappointing that Lammie chose to leave Swans rather than try to prove that Harding was wrong. It would not be the first time a coach has questioned a player.

Finally, as I have said previously, and I accept that I am not privy to conversations between Lammie and Harding, on the surface there has not been any incident I am aware of which would have caused one to question whether Lammie had the full support of the coach.

Haha Mark, we would probably be down to Ames and our Little league team would probably have to play this week if everyone walked when Toddy gave them a spray.

After Singleton's obvious inside information about the situation how is any of you morons still questioning Wes?

This is a blatantly obvious example of Harding failing again. It is a known fact players dont trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Regardless of Wes being given the number one ruck role he does not owe harding anything. Wes was playing 70% as well as Llane but Llane was training when he pleased and costing the club big money with no committment.

Singo's post is a perfect example of Hardings failure (which has gone on far too long) to be trusted and respected by the players. It would be fair to say most players will start of respecting any new coach. So we can make up our own minds why over 3 or so seasons there is none there.

I believe that Wes's character being questioned by the coach and that guy Smart should have all you forum lovers questioning them, not Wes.

Do you think this would of happened with brian dawson in charge? thats the question you should ask yourself. Along with all the other failings over the last few years.
If Dawson was coach - most wouldnt even be thinkable.
