SD are finals bound and congrats on that.....the only club capable of catching them are Freo Jnr, and that will be Freo Snr dependent......SD are the glowing example of what my club EF could achieve by having their recruits fit and available every week....it's not a dig guys, just an observation on where my side sits right now.......well played and good luck come finals time.

I didn't get to the game today.  I would appreciate if someone who was there could provide a match summary.  It would be interesting to hear an explanation of how we can kick 8 goals in the first half and only 2 goals in the second half.

Based on the results of the other games it was a very important win for us today.

I got there at half-time and therefore saw the poorer side of the game by Swans.

Cam Jones was brilliant for the Eagles, especially in the last quarter. Held up two or three Swans' attacks while in their defence, and gave off an easy goal to one of his teammates to get the wingnuts to a kick.

Snoozer.

Well done Bill Reidy for his attack on the football, and to Fisher in making the obvious step into the leadership role on the field. Good signs.

Looking forward to watching us play Perth at Basso in a fortnight's time.

Just out of interest, when was the last time you went to a game 42?

Important hard earned victory which leaves us within touching distance of a finals spot. Set up by a brilliant 7 goal 2nd quarter and a rearguard action  in the last.
Sets up a great contest next week against the reigning premiers at Bassendean. The biggest game for us since the finals in 2017.

Ok 42 here goes.

We were played off the park in the 1st qtr and were lucky WCER missed a few shots, Hutchings got forward from the stoppages a couple of times and made us pay for poor set ups.
Our 2nd qtr was as good as we have played this year (or equally with Q2 vs EF & Q1 vs EP) with our movement of the footy especially from a few centre breaks with Warrick on the end of a few with strong hands and good kicking including a pearler banana/checkside from the left forward pocket, if only we could play this standard of footy more than just fleetingly as it was a pleasure to watch.
The 3rd qtr looked like being a replica of the 1st with WCER kicking 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the term before we made it a bit of an arm wrestle for most of the rest of the qtr with Jesse Turner pushing forward to get on the end of one and kicked truly, whilst we also missed a couple of gettable ones but thankfully WCER also missed a few.
The last qtr it looked like we were going to get run over by a team with 14 full time afl professionals in their side and when they got yet another soft free kick to goal with only just over a minute on the clock it looked like we had dropped yet another close game but we won the very next centre clearance from the centre bounce down and through a chain of handballs allowed Germs to kick the eventual winner from the goalsquare. Once again from the next centre bounce Hutchings was given yet another free kick to try and get the WCER home but thankfully Noble stood tall to take a strong intercept mark and we were able to wind the clock down but not before a WCER playing dragged one in in Swans forward line that inexplicably wasnt paid holding the ball but thankfully the siren went and dashed any last chance for Margetts henchman to attempt another WCER chain of free kicks up the ground to score!

Happy to get the 4 points against the WCER in both games who have had 12 afl listed players the first time we played and another 14 yesterday (plus renowned Eagles fan Margetts henchmen to deal with I must add) whilst other WAFL teams got them with barely a handful of afl listers and were able to top up their percentage.
As I said when others were commenting that WCER needed help, concessions etc to hold your horses as once they got their League players back their Reserves would be full of afl listers as is the case currently and they will be very hard to beat whilst this continues!

Very true Beas, of course that was going to happen. That dipshit panic merchant was just looking for concessions, which they got, stealing young west from joondy and the other kid. The best thing that can happen with regards to any further concessions is those kiants make a late charge to the finals but miss out by 0001%

Great write up BH, I think the only side which has been truly kissed on the dick percentage wise playing  a weakened WCER, has been EF mate.....but injuries to key players has totally negated most of that % boost. SD are finals bound and deservedly so, so don't feel too hard done by BH , by not getting that WCER compromised % boost EF got, reckon you should just count your blessings that SD have been kissed on the dick in other ways.....can't have it all I guess.

Swans have had a good run with injuries so far with the only major one being Spackman struck down with a knee injury  and Jetta and Riggio missing a few games from memory. Certainly nowhere near what East Fremantle and Perth have experienced. This has enabled stability within the team and the consistency and confidence which comes from having the best players available most of the time.
