Not sure about the hype over Leggett. All he seems to do is try and boot it long or go short and turn it over. Buffalo doesn’t seem to want to make any moves til the games over and our skills are atrocious. Turn over after turnover means the players are getting tired quickly. Strengthen back end with someone who can kick the ball properley and simplify the game plan. I dont know what it is and the players don’t seem to either. Blokes getting 20+ possessions but how many effective?.Cant win the ball out of the middle and no leadership seems evident. Buffalo needs to get the spurs out this week. The Demons would have learnt nothing from yesterday, so who knows,

Perhaps the coaches game plan only works for sides with good mids...aka Nelson, Black, Meadows etc...who put their head over the ball, play the team game and can kick straight....no matter the distance the footy travels...pretty hard to change ones, tried and tested methods, which have seen a flag, a few GF appearances and consistent finals footy....over night. Lets hope the coach can realise sooner rather then later the squad he built at WP is far different to one he has inherited and slowly evolving at EF.. a few have gone and many more will follow no doubt with many a expletive still ringing in their ear....another week, another game of footy I guess....

I can't fault Leggett - he has done very well. Few skills errors yesterday but plenty of that going on which is just one of several issues. The royals had more possessions but less tackles and inside 50's (by 2). They were much more direct with their ball movement though- and more skilled than us. We seem to make a lot of short passes and moved the ball sideways a lot. When you don't have the skills this will become problematic. I think that was the question rather bluntly asked the by coach in his brutal 3rd quarter time address. Who said we are not to move the ball through the middle of the ground? In no uncertain terms it was suggested changes will be made.

Seems that if Bill speaks softly and tries to guide he gets same results and nailed for spreading the love

Of course if Bill makes the 'apparently' over aggressive move of dropping the F Bomb and gets stuck into a team of 4 carriers and the remainder lucky to be called EF league footballers he also seems to have erred ...??
Hard to be a coach

Personally My only critique is that heads need to be finally chopped and changes to be made earlier in a game.
If we are down by more goals that likely able to pull back with current playing positions - why not change it up..! Some of the players are JUST NOT GETTING IT!

Use the strengths and try to give the mids and backs grunt - better to kick long - not with stupidity - but considered effect, than to pissy pass, loopy handball etc
No quick fix - just options and change..

East Perth had either Scott Jones or Ajang Ajang as deep targets and moving it long and quick caused all sorts of head aches for our backs. They also had the 193cm Sebit Kuek floating around the forward line and was a real handful.

Interesting EP go tall up front and win with ease, yet EF have Strnadica, Loersch or Bonomelli just as capable yet go with Bailey and Jansen.... surely time for the coach to use the kicking skills of say a Leggett or Snuffy more effectively....if EP can do it surely so can EF...

Who are EF injury concerns for next week from the EP game?...

Leggett bought over to drive longs kicks into our F50 from half back. Teams are dragging him back to deep defence , so no benefit. Why not just play Leggett and L Smith half back and Jupp Chb. They can’t drag them all back and the 2 L’s would be very creative together , receiving Jupp Handball. We need to the ball into the hands of good kicks and good decision makers. Our mids need an overhaul. Jansen stays for his body size, but Kommers days are numbered, and Eardley now.getting to slow. He could go to half back as well. Need big key forward that WANTS to be dominant and demand the footy and apply some pressure. Stranadica is one way and Loesche leaving the ground straight after the league game suggests not committed fully. Terrible decisions with Tom Marshall yesterday, held over from reserves in case a player didn’t get thru the League warm up.....

LOL STT...would of thought you being a Perth fan would understand what I mean about slow evolvement fella..you have had 4 decades worth of it...LOL..I guess EF fans should give Bill as much time as you Perth boys have given Spalding to evolve STT....but with less spoons of course.

Like where Grey Fin is coming from with the likes of Leggett and Snuffy kicking off from half back and Jupp at CHB. I can see Tucker moving to the last line of defence helping out Winton and Davies as well.

Considering Loersch didn't kick a goal in that reserves loss, I can see him being very frustrated with himself...Be interesting to see what happens with him then....as for Marshall, perhaps Kommer or Eardley were doubtful till bounce down....not sure why the kid was held back as an emergency....in a shortened season that would be equally as frustrating not playing.

You could only assume that someone was under a cloud, that’s why Marshall was held over. Makes sense and probably happens all the time.

I watched 2nd half of Reserves. Loersch didn’t do much from what I saw. EF had a bit of the play but couldn’t score and EP were cleaner and more skilled. Couldn’t find many who could improve the League side at the moment.

The League shot out of the blocks and looked in for a good day until the EP Mids kicked into gear and dominated through the middle. Again moved the ball well and had some big targets up forward. Be nice is one of our many 200+ attacked the ball like Jones, Ajang and Robertson. EP were physically stronger and looked to have recruited well. Leggett actually went into the Midfield on the last and was quite good. Maybe a sign of things to come.

Going in I thought it was a 50/50 game- no difference to this week against Perth. Win and we go into the bye at 2-2 and still in the race. Loses and it’s mothballs.
