at least the colts had a day out. they kicked six.

when you have a team starting the year with about 15 eagles players, you then have a reserves side that is second rate at best. Then the eagles get injuries and then you have to draw on these reserves guys to fill up that league side. In other words playing guys who would otherwise (in a non-alignment environment)not get a look in at league level. The end result is days like Saturday when the reserves kick 1 goal and the league kick 2. Its all stop gaps and people managing, that is it. No continuity and certainly no genuine football club process. Its priority is a management regime for a group of full timers over a whole club. You get an embarrassment across the board. But they have money now $$$. I know we have some on here who dislike me for disliking the alignment. Maybe they dislike me because the truth hurts, too bad. If any of them try and justify on any front that a reserves and a league side can kick a combined total of just 3 goals given the handing over of an entire list of AFL players, then I feel sorry for the lot of them. And keep throwing the "loyalty" comeback at me. It doesn't effect me and never has. Saturday rubber stamped my beliefs as bloody spot on.

Jardine I don't dislike you, I don't know you apart from what you put on here.

The difference is that I like to see the club playing lots of new boys, seeing them have to develop our players rather than going out an buying players.

The ERT thing is sad but the fact is that it is happening, it will cease and the club will either die or survive based on what the supporters and members do then (and Howson and AHG cos like a lot of the WAFL without him we will surely die).

Until then we the supporters and members need to do that support and help get the club back to where it should be, not the ERT but a club in its own right, not buying players but continuing to develop our players and working on the end result, ahelthy club with a heathly and zonal team.

The fact that you and others have chosen to walk away is sad but your choice. The fact that you run the same diatribe week in and week out is also sad but for vastly different reasons.

I agree I repeat myself Grump. But that is the way I feel. I am that strong about it.

I must say my passion against what my club has become is more than matched by your passion for what you believe. We will always agree to disagree but I read what you put here and I respect everything you say. I am not being condescending, I really do. It is because of people, real EP people like yourself & Larry as to why I am so vocal and against what our club has done. I hate seeing EP people having to read so much negativity about our club and even more so losing respect.

I don't hate you, I don't hate Larry. I know its all basically frustration and in the end we all get agitated and get knifey with each other. Before the alignment we had none of this. In fact the thought of such a thing back in the hey day would be laughed at.

What I loved about East Perth is that the supporters where all different and from totally different backgrounds. But we all had one common thread at that was watching this football club for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. We all agreed on that sacred coat of arms. We are so far from that now & it makes me so damn angry.

Anyway I like reading your thoughts Grump. And Larry I respect the fact you stick thick as they say. I am just not at that point anymore, I cant help it. And unfortunately we will see only grey on this subject. Its all as clear as mud, this whole mess.

Without knowing the inner workings of the financials at the club formerly known as East Perth, it would seem to me that its board had one of two choices. The first choice was to get in bed with the Eagles and accrue the financial benefits of such an arrangement no matter what the costs to the fabric of the club. The second choice, which is the path that the Swans' board chose, was to try to work its way out of the financial difficulties and to develop within and not indulge in any extensive external recruiting. Whilst the second alternative would have been the more difficult it would have ensured that the heart and soul of the club remained in tact.

When the Eagles move to Lathlain Park Oval what will become of the club formerly known as East Perth? How much long term irreparable damage will have been done in interim? How badly affected has the alignment been to the home attendances for "East Perth" games?

Have any questions been asked of the board at the AGM what will happen once the Eagles move to their new premises in Lathlain Park?

I agree with most everything Jardine has to say our differences are philosophical largely. I'm an old man I have seen players and Administrators I didn't like come and go. The club itself is not to blame for the decisions of its current board. I can seperate the two I love the club more than I ever did and dislike the current board equally. At least Jardine used to support the Royals unlike Astro a WP supporter in actual fact.

Swan, as usual asking the right questions,

I don't go to AGM's and never have, I think the process is moot given the fact that we have had to rely on patronage dollars for so long the election etc is all about who brings the cash to the table.

When the ert process ceases I hope that we have done enough to be able to continue with a largely EP grown team that is capable of winning or being beaten by the better team on the day.

As for members it will be upto what the future holds with the 'sadly' ert process. if they can win the game in late september the winners will come back and will stay as long as the ert keep winning.

We all know the mentality of supporters, just look at carlton, win and folk are happy lose and the door won't smack you in the back of the head on the way out cos there is someone behind you.

I suspect and it is only my suspicion and opinion that there will be one less team in the WAFL and the colours will be a tri-colour of one of the 8 left.

Red, blue and black doesn't sound too flash for me. I think iy will be very dependant on how much charatcer and backbone Perth show. I have no doubts that the Eagles will do all they can to suck the life out of the Perth carcass as they have done with the East Perth carcass and will have no regard the damage that they will have inflicted on the WAFL clubs and competition.

I think the Eagles and Dockers are bank rolling the WAFL.

Yes good point Astro, but the balance of power is very much different nowadays. The AFL is an all encompassing all conquering juggernaut. The WAFL is on its death bed requires heavy injections of funds from the very organisation that is suffocating it.
