all of this stuff is fair enough but what we all miss is that Subi is supposed to operate on the same rules as everyone else so lets have a detailed forensic audit of their books and everything that goes with it...almost like a legal discovery exercise to put this crap to bed once and for all. I worked for PwC and EY for 17 years and if there's stuff happening outside the norm then these guys will find it.... there will be emails or notes somewhere that will point the finger. If they're found to be cheating then the club should be punished big time with everything that goes with it, if not then you lot should just accept the club has lifted the WAFL to a new level, get better and move on.

BC you are probably correct abt the salary cap but you and I both know that there are ways to rort the system that are within the rules and nonetheless wrong which allow the use of the financial situation Subi find itself blessed with, and I do mean blessed.

How many players get employment albeit in name only through the clubs supporter/sponsor coterie and yes Bronte has done this at EP, found work for players but methinks that a bar down at Scarborough may have more bar folk than they use, just a rumour. Also I understand from hearsay that Subi have a few assistant coaches than they show and good luck to them preparing these players for life after football and then there is the playing list submitted by all clubs on a monday morning, I reckon that would be interesting read from Subi and other clubs.

The thing is that over the years all clubs have played smoke and mirrors to pay players more than what is declared but what irks most folk is the quite visible financial advantage Subi has had ( and no amount of argument will justify it) and the quite visible manner in which the advantage has been used.

I also know folk in glass houses should not throw stones but I accept and acknowledge my clubs failings and processes perhaps some others need to fess up as well!

Good post Grump. Yes I acknowledge Subi received a large financial benefit over a long period that that other clubs didn't by virtue of the fact they had social premises at Subi Oval...that's not the club's fault, it was just a happy coincidence they were well positioned to take advantage of AFL games at the ground. It's my understanding that all WAFL clubs were offered seats to sell on game day but obviously they couldn't offer on site premises to provide lunch etc. Now, I've researched and tried to find any reference to other clubs being offered seats but can honestly say I haven't found anything so I could be wrong and if so, stand corrected. Long time Subi supporters like Senior Seagull have similar recollections so there must be an element of truth around it somewhere. TBH I don't know what the answer is to equalising the comp but then again as a supporter I'm not supposed to....that's for the geniuses at the WAFC and 9 clubs to work out but clearly something needs to be done and fast.

A very simple question BC. Do you think that Subiaco's current dominance is:

(i) detrimental;
(ii) beneficial; or
(iii) neutral to the WAFL?

Didnt you lot receive a large compensation package (7 figures) to leave Subiaco Oval BC?
And yet were somehow inexplicably also able to keep the social club premises and the seats deal as well?
Talk about triple dipping......somewhat reminiscent of that old Kerry Packer saying in regards to Alan Bond re $ubi and the WAFC?!

All of the above 42 depending on where you're coming from. Detrimental to the other clubs, beneficial to Subi players, members and sponsors and neutral to those who don't give a stuff about the WAFL.

Having a 99 year lease with 10 + 10 option from memory I think they did get compo to break the lease...but just remember the club had to build their own social premises and upgrade the player facilities at Leederville which was north of $2m..so it cost the club money to move away from Subi whereas EP had theirs gifted by the WAFC.

Oops BC we had to move and then the Past Players had the job of refurbishing the facilities cos we did not have the money to pay.
