Subiaco were in the mid 80s winning %, SF, WP, EP & Peel in the 50% Range, CL, SD & EF were in the 40% Range & Perth about the 30% mark.
That is also including 2 GFs Subiaco lost to Peel so their record in home and away games would probably be even higher.
How is that good for a close, exciting, vibrant WAFL competition?
And also why on earth have Subiaco even needed to top up an already strong list whilst also weakening their direct opposition...didn’t they even win the Ressies flag last year?

This is why.....

So talking about another club or clubs other than your own is not allowed BH?....Thought all on here were more than just individual fans?....we are fans of the WAFL as a whole......Was I being derogative to the SDFC when I asked 42 what he meant by Subi cherry picking the cream from other WAFL clubs?......any opposite view to you all mighty ones at the SDFC is considered as stirring.....piss weak and super soft like SD last performance and EF performance all year.

Perhaps if Andy Krakouer had of gone back to SF, then he would of carried them to a flag instead of being cherry picked by the SDFC and carrying them to that drug tainted flag in 2010.....Krakouer definitely strengthened SD side that year from memory.....plus the PEDS from you know who....every club is guilty of recruiting to better themselves....some do it better than others....

or in East Freo's case - some do it worse than others.

Hit, nail, head freez...an absolutely cracking post. ;) I'm still waiting for 42 to enlighten us all on the cream from every WAFL club Subi has supposedly cherry picked but I guess we'll be waiting a while.

I think Grumps post has summed this issue up very well. It is the history of domination ( on field and off field) of the competition by Subiaco that has gone on pretty well unchallenged for many years which then perpetuates itself with ex AFL players such as Zac Clarke getting mutliple offers from WAFL clubs choosing Subiaco because of the better renumeration and promise of team success. Great for Subiaco but then people will invariably switch off becuase of the predictabilty of results. Just keep in mind that if Peel hadn't loaded up their team with AFL players in the last 2 grand finals, Subiaco would now be inevitably heading for their 5th consecutive flag and who knows how many more they will win. That to me is not a healthy sign of a proper competition where fans need to have some hope that their team has a chance to win a flag on a level playing field. I don't think any of the G6 clubs would deep down think that they have this opportunity any time soon. I don't blame Subiaco for taking advantage of their situation. It is the WAFC that has been asleep at the wheel and reduced the WAFL to a sham competition. The AFL has an equailisation policy, why not the WAFL?

Mike I enjoy having a conversation with you as you're not all venom and vitriol and actually talk some sense. I agree with everything you've said and my club's domination since 2004 is far too long in the ordinary ups and downs of the footy cycle. I've long promoted the idea of not being able to recruit players from clubs below you including those returning from the AFL which would have precluded Subi getting the likes of Lockyer and Litherland. I think it has merit but I'm not sure how it would go under restraint of trade laws but it should be looked at nonetheless. As for equalisation, I thought the WAFC had lifted Perth's points and salary cap in the last year or two...perhaps that's something that could be incorporated for all clubs finishing in the bottom four on a graduated basis depending on where you finish. Say a club finishing 9th would get a greater increase in points and salary the following year than the club finishing 8th and so on. Just a thought but as you say, it's long overdue for the WAFC to actually make some real and tangible decisions so that clubs have some hope of playing finals first and foremost and winning flags as well....just my thoughts.

effective policing of the current salary cap is the issue..
how a club can keep that team at the same salary cap as the other G6 clubs is what needs to be investigated.

All good suggestions BC, unfortunately noone at the WAFC seems to be thinking of these types of things. This may be a conspiracy theory but my feeling for a few years is there may be another agenda going on here to make the WAFL so unsustainable and uncompetitive that it is ripe for a takeover by the AFL.

you can change zones, implement a salary cap and points system and if the end result the same team is still the most successful on a regular basis then its up the people in charge of the competition to ask the obvious question - is every team able to compete on and off the field on an even basis ?
if not provide funding to the clubs apart from Subi to even things up, then we can see if there is more player movement based on money being offered under the table..

No I don't agree with your last contention Mike. The WAFC can point to the fact that the WAFL is the strongest state based competition in Australia as evidenced by recent results against others when justifying it's efforts or lack thereof in guiding the competition. I think the WAFL is strong in spite of the WAFC and not because of it but recent drop in attendances and lower participation rates at junior levels is a big concern in my opinion.
