well..back in the saddle this week. It'll be interesting to see which of the injured players come back in. Given we're missing Waters, Dela, Boland, Twomey and co from two weeks ago, you'd think we'd get a couple coming up. Also, I guess they'll be issuing helmets to everyone as they run out given Billings was let off again for a front on hit to Wulff. It's a shame guys like Jeff Murray or Paul Miller aren't still running around for Subi...they wouldn't sit back and watch a germ like Billings take aim at team mates week in and week out. anyway...hoping for a good solid win and no more injuries otherwise I might have to find my boots in the shed somewhere. hahaha...nice one freez. yes, i remember Bushell got a couple of weeks for pushing a Subi trainer over the fence one day. he was a bit different that's for sure but big Laurie Keene squared the ledger very early on the first qtr of the '86 grand final when he whacked him after a centre bounce down. Bushell never fired a shot after that. I was also at a Sunday League game at Shirley Strickland in Applecross one day when Bushell and Wrensted fronted up. Bushell gave this bloke in his 50's I guess in front of me a mouth full of cheek but he was having none of it. the older bloke slipped his thongs off and shaped up to Bushell and the little pric* couldn't run away quick enough....fun times indeed.

Who would have thought an EF bloke running away from a donnybrook BC? :pinch: Con Regan would be turning in his grave & Wilson Onions would have him struck off the past players for such an action or lack thereof!!

yeah..it could have been he thought it was a good idea to stay out of the chit given his profile around town in those days...so maybe it was a smart move but the bloke who shaped up to him looked like he could handle himself and was in pretty good knick so maybe he did a timely retreat as self preservation..guess we'll never know.

Was Bushell's old man the EF boxing coach at one stage Freeze & BC or am I getting him confused with Ian Dargie's old man?

yeah that was dargie's old man..gerard neesham found out the hard way in the 88 GF I think it was just how well the old bloke trained up Ian in the pugalistic arts.

Speaking of Neesham it was good to see him interviewed on Open Mike the other night and a few highlights shown from his playing days at SD, EF & C.
He wasn't too bad with his fists (elbows) either as Georgey Michalcyzk could vouch for!! :pinch:

no argument there BH. he had running battles with Dargie in the 88 GF along with Peter Melesso and Rod Willet, Peter Higgins and Gary Kemp, Tony Begovich and Mick Lee just to name a few.
