Yeah, I remember him being a bit on the heavy side. lol

This era has reminded me of players who wore glasses on the field. Unthinkable now but back then there were some in the WAFL and SANFL.

Geoff Blethyn and Dalton Gooding are two who come to mind. Apparently Munro should have.

Haha yeah that was my memory of him as well LH ..he came from Hawthorn i think like a few boys did at Subi in that time- Douge, Cook, McFaull ..could have been the David Parkin link maybe?

Hep big Brendan was carrying a tad too much. Not very quick (not a refferance to Barry Quik)Used his bulk well when required but from memory he use to ruck a bit although not overly tall. I think he would rest in the forward line when rucking with big bad bearded Vic Melville??? Did Brendan have a moustacha at one stage ???

Vic Melville ...now there's a name that has bobbed up in the news of late!

all either left the club or played little football for whatever reason -- and in a club which only finished 5th in 1981, you can't expect to cope with losing nearly half a team. Also, the 1983 team had more talent because of the young players whom Armstrong introduced the year before.

Yes Ark I thought we were in for a good year after our 81 effort. Couldn't believe the losses when I heard.

Ray Reeves was Subi's Mr tough guy - Blonde hair and tats never took a backward step running of a half back flank.

Ray Reeves was a rugged half back for Subi ..from memory his missus trained a few pacers with success back in the 80/90's.

His old man didn't mind a scrap or two in the stand either let me tell you
