That's a clear prediction,  SS. Let's see how it pans out. I don't see too much midfield or forward fire power on the horizon, so perhaps you're right.

So hard to predict though. Subi are so good at recruiting

Recruiting can be so much easier when you’ve got a shipload of money to splash around.  And we are sure that clubs keep a stack of brown bags handy!!!

Good effort by the colts v Peel, big last qtr fightback but fell short by a couple of points. They earned the 2nd chance so get another chance in the 1st semi next week.

Went to the Claremont east freo final today. Both teams faster than Subi. Move the ball better.  Marsh is a big presence as well, which we lack.

JL even during our years of dominance we have never been a particularly fleet of foot team. We were bigger stronger fitter than most and arguably more skillfull. We moved the ball with precision by hand and foot quickly and worked hard on the spread. Most of that was lacking this year. We can see the value of players with pace when you look at the outstanding season by Giro, but the rest of the mids apart from Harris are plodders in the pace department by comparison.

Fair point about the pace, SS. Though Clarke, Martin and Kennedy were reasonably fleet of foot. But you're right. It was our strength in the stoppages and then clean ball skills. Phelan, Horse, Webb and Bristow to name a few of the best. Of course, Kitch too. Subi have often been a kind of lock down team - grind them into the ground, as the song says.

Maybe there's hope for Golding, vanirsen and co yet.  I see we won the reserves. But game seems to be heading in a pace direction, generally.

Speaking of the ressies, it was great that the game was streamed live and commentated by John Townsend.

JL the two lads you mentioned, Golding and Vanirsen are good strong in and under players but both lack pace. Guys like Robbins and the Farone's need to take the next step as they have genuine pace and good skills. There must be some mids in the well performing Colts and ressies that have pace and skill.
