True Roman, would prefer a 1pt ruckman like Ben Miller, but that's not gonna happen, not for a long time anyway. Zac is handy at this level but we definitely need alot more than him to get us into top 5 contention

Great news from the club re Clarke, even at 32 he'll be very valuable. He's very athletic and can kick goals, what he will do is give us way more first use of the footy at stoppages, something we haven't had since he was banned by the WAFC. Dela gave his all but was never a top flight tap ruckman, but as a midfielder he had few peers. Assume he will have a role as ruck coach and mentor to the young rucks coming through. A big bodied mid is the next target, shame we missed out on Crowden.

It was mentioned on the radio the other day during the cricket that Angus Dewar was moving to Melbourne next year?

By the time round 1 comes around Clarke will be 33 and has spent the last season or two in the Eastern Suburbs metro league in Melbourne.....big jump literally to the WAFL for Clarke, but good signing for Subi's existing young rucks in terms of tutelage

The club announcement mentioned the ruck coach position as part of the re-signing, our young rucks are pretty raw so his input will be invaluable.

As for Gus Dewar, he's already or about to marry a Perth girl from a good Subi family. So would be surprised if he was on the move, but will wait and see.

…Bit quiet here, just a reminder.
Hard to fathom that we turned things around to play in a GF only 2 years after this dark year! And considering the quality of the other teams in those days. Up there with 1979 and 1980 as our worst years that I have ever seen

Bunton coming in in 84 was the big turnaround for Subi at this time. Sorted out the playing group after years of misery!

Bunton was the key element, brought in a very different game plan, something that Neesham borrowed and adapted for his very successful Claremont sides, chip and carry style that relied on having highly skilled players which Subi and Cl had at the time.
Pre- Bunts, Armstrong had gathered together a solid group of youngsters that went on to play in those 4 GF's so some credit to him.
Back to now, has official training started? If not I would be wondering why. We had an early exit so should have already had a few weeks under their belts. I dont think the 2022 group were as fit as previous seasons, we didn't seem to run quarters/games out as we had done previously, maybe to do with so many injuries/covid and a heap of youngsters playing.

Think I read somewhere that training was starting on Dec 1. Hopefully the bulk of the players have been running their own work since the end of last season as that seems a long time ago now. Agree we haven’t seen the levels of fitness that we were renowned for in the past.
