A lot of good youngsters to look at, still a good list, just a scratchie though. No news from the club if any of the absentee's are for H & S protocols?

A good game of footy in hot conditions at West Coast park with a draw probably a fitting result as it was a game of two halves. Perth dominated the first and Subi the second. The result was irrelevant really and I was more interested in performance of new recruits and ressies players who got a crack at league. Giro was good and his work rate and disposal first class. Corey Robinson hard at it and Snadden serviceable. I thought young Breman didn't look out of place at league level and Kody Eaton also had his moments as did big Putt. La Fontaine settled in well in defence and Ryan Borchet gave us a target up front after half time but was quiet until then. Plenty of first 22 guys sitting the stands so I'd think a fair bit of improvement to come in round one. I noticed Chad Harris wearing number 3 so not sure what's happened to Haydn Kennedy. I can also say we'll be stuffed when Dela retires as he rucked all day and we don't seem to have any new ruckman coming through. Overall I'm a bit concerned about our midfield as we got towelled up in the first half mostly by Ainsworth until Wardman put Hickmott on him as a hard tag which slowed him down a bit. Stainsby played as a mid which didn't work so even though Marsh to come back in, think we still need to find one or two more from somewhere to add to our midfield depth. Also the forwards were all over the place up until half time with Sokol our only target. They seemed to work together better in the second half but a fair bit of work to do there as well. I'm not sure how many Perth were missing but we should see at least 6 quality league players including Lockyer, Marsh, Brandon Matera, Atkinson, Braut, Walters, Mayo back in for round 1 hopefully although I think Braut and Mayo had knee clean ups or similar in the off season so they may be a couple of weeks away..

It's a pity EF and Subi aren't having one last hit out this weekend before the season starts.....Subi are playing WCER instead, which going off that SD win, surely won't be the desired hit out Wardman wants before round 1.....also no footy for the Subi reserves or colts......EF reserves have had only one hit out this preseason with no matches v WCE or WP.....talk about going into the season fresh as a daisy 🤔

Caught last quarter of the subi v West Coast game. Putty seems to have improved quite a lot. Stefan Giro dominated. will add run and pace to Subiaco. The young skinny ruckman competed quite well. The farone brothers are coming on well. One has a superb kick, as we know. Another Robinson on the scene. Useful. Young Golding seems to have put on weight but laid some good tackles.

There was an article in the West online, Sport section, about Yeo coming back to play in the WCER scratchie, it also mentioned we had 32 players unavailable off our list due to injury and H & S protocols!!! If that's the case it was a pretty good effort to win the game, but WCER are in the same boat I guess. I hope that most of the missing players are available for Saturday v SF otherwise we will get a hiding. Could be a slow start to the season if we have a lot of blokes recovering from Covid. We've seen the effect it's had on returning WC players, they reckon players are down approx 25% on fitness levels.

Does anyone have any news on the actual injured players?

Almost fell off my chair when I saw a story on the WAFL on the 7 midday news!!! it was the official season media opening with the captains and coaches present. Quick interview with Wardman who again mentioned that Covid is rife at the club and that we will be relying on a number of youngsters this week.

Yes SS, I'm not sure what the Covid situation looks like whether there's a whole heap infected or just deemed as close contacts but on the injury front, I believe Mayo and Braut are still a couple of weeks away after having a bit of surgery in the off season.

Someone mentioned on WAFL world that Jack Mayo had done his ACL again and would be out for the season? Hopefully not true but would be a tragedy for him if correct.

Hopefully its fake news but would be a tragedy for the lad, he was really starting to hit his straps towards the end of last season.
I see on our website that the game starts at 2.10pm not 3.10pm as previously shown. Premiership flag unfurled at 1.45pm, plenty of family and kids stuff to do so bring the kids or grandies, should be a great 2022 opening day for the club. Fine partly cloudy and 26 forecast.
