My opinion, as a bit of a fence sitting outsider, the club could do well to concentrate on players and fans… and a bit less on the corporate. Just saying

Upton must have changed his mind about going back to Dampier.

No sooner than his clearance from Subiaco to Dampier was approved, a clearance to Kingsway was submitted, before that was cancelled and a couple of days later he was off to Scarborough.

Lots of chat that a number of very talented 21-25 year olds are pulling the pin at Subi at the end of the season too.

Dudes ,
What's going on?
last week's reserves win looked like a great team effort.

Upton battled away. Definitely had something to offer. Maybe lacking a yard in pace. Seemed a solid citizen.

It's hard to crack the league team, but that's as it should be.

Well....I certainly didn't see that coming. Firstly, congrats to Swans for gutsing out a very good win. Better kicking at goal probably would have seen an unassailable lead quite early on but in the end I think the correct result prevailed as you were the better side all day.

Secondly, no disrespect to Swans but I don't think I've seen a worse display by a Subi team for a very long time. Missed tackles, not committing to contests, turnovers especially in our forward half and poor choices meant we were on the back foot from the first bounce. I'm not going to single anyone out in particular as you win as a team and lose as one but clearly there's a couple out there today who aren't up to league standard.

Thirdly, Wardman was out-coached. I lost count of the number of intercept marks taken in our forward 50 by Erceg and Notte and Wardman did nothing to combat the plus one or give instructions to slow the game down and look for options other than bombing it in where Sokol was being double teamed. We badly need Borchet back as the high flying alternative but he was in a cast and on crutches today so won't see him any time soon.

Fourthly, to those cretin Swan supporters who were in the front section of the main stand you are a disgrace. As the game went on the language got worse and the general behaviour deteriorated to a point where it became embarrassing. At one time a female in the group accused the umpire of being a "racist maggot" for not giving Jetta a 50 meter penalty then the others chimed in with similar disgusting comments. The WAFL doesn't need low life scum like that lot and given one had a pram, God only knows what the future holds for that poor little sod.

Finally, well done to the umps who I think did a pretty good job overall. Sure there were some decisions I didn't agree with but that's going to happen no matter what. Overall a good win by Swans and well deserved...a disappointing day for SUBI and anyone who still thinks Subi will win the flag in a canter is delusional.
I'll restate as I have done in another post that I think it was most likely an off day for Subi, but your statement about Erceg is interesting. I think that most Swans supporters would agree that there is no other player at the club who has a bigger heart than Erceg - and a heart only fractionally smaller than his hands that mark everything coming his way. However, pace is not one of his strengths. In the past when SD have played S, his lack of pace has been shown up by a flighty opponent, yet this did not occur on the weekend. If 'outcoached' means forgetting an opposition player's weakness, I certainly agree.

3 or 4 previously mentioned come to mind that could be replaced by Golding for example Johhny

Fair points LH. Breman might be in line to take Narkle 's opportunity. Narkle is a clever player, but doesn't give you a big contest at this stage. Getting late in the season to find out.

Menengola is a trier and these types also deserve a crack.

clinch will hopefully hang in there too. He looks a likely type to me.

I was being an bit generous to menengola. I hope you're right about Narkle. Subi are lacking in height.

Maybe the other young guys realised they were behind Golding and Robbins and didn't See a (near) future for themselves at subi. Ditto Upton.

Upton had a few injuries, it seemed every time he got himself right and in some form he'd get another injury plus he's 30+ , losing him is not such an issue unlike the youngsters who have pulled the pin. Menagola is just an average plodder imho, need to see what these other guys have to offer, we desperately need to bolster our mids given Kitch & Dela are 31 and Marsh is not far behind. Would also be good if the club moved heaven and earth to get Deluca back. Whats he doing over in Vic? VFL or regional footy? Jack Mayo will be a good inclusion when he comes back after his ACL but wont expect too much until next season as they normally take time to get their confidence back after a big injury like that. If the Ruck cupboard is bare apart from Putt, who is still just a kid in ruck terms, has good potential but would like to see the club find an experienced big ruckman to mentor Putt for a year or two as Dela will likely pull the pin after this season or '22.
