DD I am a labour voter but i did not expect this outcome.

I wonder whether it was a vote against Dutton and or the Liberals, I think it was both, Watching Sky even the former Victorian Liberal President who in the scheme of the party hierarchy you would think is or was fairly powerful said that it was both a lack of leadership and a lack of coherent policies. He was a bit rabid about dirty politics but as the moderator said both sides are guilty of that! Equally on the rabid lefty ABC the same comments were made.

The biggest issue for us as a country now is not who is in power but navigating the world economic landscape and the flow on effects of the US recession that most pundits both in the US and the rest of the world are predicting.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Looks like a new direction for the LNP.
Back in the Howard era.All ministers where from the Religious Right of the party, apart from Turnbull +Julie Bishop.
Whos left,Senator Cash + Andrew Hastie.
While Trumps President. That will stop the LNP from shifting further to the right.
Start the rebuild by winning the Victorian state election.
The Queensland LNP believe they lost about 3% of the vote to One Nation.Trying to stay in the centre of polotics.

I'm too depressed to talk about it. Silver linings are always good things to look for when all hope seems lost. Greens 0 seats and Labor's clear majority means they can go full steam ahead and really punish Australians for being so dumb. That's probably the coalition's only hope going forward.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

As a LIB/coalition voter I can only say that the party had a leader who was unelectable even when compared to Elbows and a newks policy that just didn't sit well with most voters plus a poorly run mostly negative campaign handing the election to Labor on a silver plate. The only good thing as mentioned is that the party voted into power by a significant majority wont be held to ransom by loony extremists like the greens, one nation or a raft of green leaning Teals. The other major factor in this election was the Trump effect. Any right leaning political party anywhere in the world will be adversely affected by this Orange fuckwit with a God complex. He almost single handedly changed the face of Canadian politics, has seen what should have been a very close Australian election become a Labor landslide and will no doubt affect all levels of UK elections starting with the UK council elections which are very party political.

In these times of world wide uncertainty created by Trump and his MAGAgots, voters will tend towards seeking stability and what they know, even if it's not the greatest solution, but one they recognise and feel more secure with.

The size of the victory means Labor already gave 2028 sewn up. It will be virtually impossible for the LNP to win the required seats.
While this may sound like doom and gloom, they really need to get rid of the remnants of the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison era and have new members and ideas about the future direction of the party. Whoever is selected to replace Dutton is certain to lose in 2028, but if they can reduce the number of seats by half then they may have a chance in 2031. If economic conditions improve, interest rates drop and a change of president in America to someone more stable mentally occur in that time, it could be well into the next decade before an LNP government win a federal election again.

The way preferences seem to go, it is looking like it is going to be a very, very long time before a right wing coalition win a federal election again in this country.

On the subject of F.wits, fancy the fat slob Clive thinking that using the Orange imbecile as a standard bearer and perceived winning formula for his hapless party, really shows his inability to read the room, and it’s obscene to see one meglamaniac Nobhead, have the capacity to squander millions on fruitless campaigns, while most people are struggling to make ends meet.

RL back in the late 1970's at Oxford University. Two students wrote the formula for the New Labor movement.
Moving the party from a Centre Left party to a right to centre party.Moving out of the 1950's.
Moving away from a Whitlam type government to a Hawk,Keating,Albo government.
That was Tony Blaire and Dr Geoff Gallop.
Labor Governments where a train wreck in UK,Au,Nz and Canada. And rairly governed and didnt last long in office.
Young Conservatives need to rewright the party doctorine for the LNP.Thats the only way they can combat the Teals.Who have turned them into Country, rural party.Wiped them out of the citys. The LNP now look like an old party with old ideas.
