Swandog Whilst I agree to disagree the issue here is not when the contracts were signed and they are documented and dates known. The Big loser is the WAFL with the decisions being made by the WAFC in regards to our great WAFL comp that is being decimated. This is issue re broadcasting games involving WPFC is a childish and petty issue.. compared to other decisions the WAFC have made.

Heres the to my latest..

Just a couple of things I would like to see changed. Similar to the SA model from what I have heard.

1. The voting for WAFC Commissioners be changed to give the WAFL clubs more say

2. Possibly letting the 2 AFL clubs buy their licences back which they want. Ok WA Government pulled WCE out of the shit but surely they are financial enough now to run
their own clubs. This would bring the WAFC back to an organisation that would be only responsible to the WAFL clubs, country, amateur etc Football in WA.

3. A complete investigation of the WAFC by the WA Government who carry the organisation and to determine why the WAFC has been running at a loss and their mismanagement of WA Football. Also to determine why 2 clubs who were going broke were determined as the 2 clubs to get the alignment deal.

4. I realise the alignement is under trail for 5 years and will be reviewed but how can it be changed back now? It has been proven from past experience it does not work and GIVES 2 CLUBS an unfair advantage including NO POINTS CAP for their players whereas the WAFL clubs still have a stringent points cap!

5. A investigation as to how channel 7 got the TV rights and ARE BEING PAID via major sponsership deals where the money comes in and goes straight out to CHN 7 rather than put back into WA Grass roots footy.

6. The structure of the WAFC be restructured to save money. Seems like to many chiefs and not enough indians

7. The decisions made by the WAFC be looked at to see if any favoritism was exerted by any board members towards their ex affiliations.

8. A complete audit done of all the WAFC books to see where exactly the money is being spent and the distribution including mates rates and free ticket distribution for AFL and WAFL games.

Amazing how the goverment steps in and takes over Councils under local government rules when not being run efficiently and Healthways got the sack for favours given to others yet the WAFC seems to be protected from this when it is obvious they cannot manage their Department. Every decision revolves around making money at any cost to put themselves in the black rather that their Duty of Care towards WA football.

And that is the tip of the iceberg

It really is a he said, she said argument for the average punter but you would think the 8 presidents would know most of the facts. Wonder if Raponis removal from the head of the council of presidents was part of this?

As I mentioned in another thread I would really love to know what the presidents are telling their members today.

Exactly JD. And also, the upcoming presidents luncheon in a couple weeks time might have an icy atmosphere, perhaps?

Thanks for your support Toddy. A legend of the WAFL

WAFL legend John Todd calls for peace to resolve West Perth television furore

“Good sponsorship is so hard to come by and $100,000 a year for a WAFL club is hard to come by,” Todd said.

“I admire West Perth for that and there needs to be a compromise to protect all parties in this dispute of television coverage. The WAFL needs every bit of exposure it can get and we need to protect that. I wonder what would happen if all of those other clubs had the same opportunity to get a sponsorship like West Perth?

An interesting comment by McHenry.. the leader of the Dogs at the Commission

It is understood McHenry and his commission have ruled out banning West Perth from finals, despite threats from the other eight clubs to boot the Falcons out. Only the commission and not clubs could take such drastic action to banish any club from the competition.

Talk now is that West Perth may be penalized by taking away any home matches during the finals.

5 mins before the start of the game thrown on the jumpers with your sponsorship logo as per your contact and watch the buffoons try to call off the game. Ludicrous behaviour from the WAFC, those buffoons in charge should be up for a performance review immediately

Would most probably result in a HUGE fine for the WPFC that would not improve the situation

I like the suggestion by one caller yesterday and it has been mentioned before.
If WP do play a final that is televised and ARE FORCED to remove the 9 LOGO that all WP supporters at the game wear shirts with a huge 9 on them (HA TRENT YOU ARE OUR HERO :) )
Wear hats with 9 Logo etc etc.. I assume if you held up a sign you would be evicted.

Interviews stand behind the guy being interviewed with 9 sponser shirts on.

In hindsight I reckon a blue hat with the 9 Logo on the front in white would be the go as we could still wear our Club shirts.
If it looks like it will eventuate 9 Should turn up at our home game v CLA with a lot of hats and hand them out.

Chn 9 Had a promo van at Joondalup and I got a couple of their stickers off them.. Now give all WP Supporters a couple of stickers and put them up everywhere at SOOBI oval.. It would be fun watching the security trying to remove them all... Dont forget above the urinals as well guys and gals.. :)

WINGER The problem with a game a Joondalup is the Scoreboard and the Clock have huge CHN9 Logo's on them. If the WAFL.WAFC made us play elsewhere they would be contravening their own rules in regards to position on ladder determines where the game is played.
They would also have to comphensate WPFC for all gate receipts and other costs :(
They are struggling to survive now the WAFC and have run at a LOSS for the last 5 years so that would be out of the question.

The plot thickens.... East Perth look like they are taking care of Peel today so that increases the chances of a West Perth V East Perth qualifying final ( or was that Channel 7 V Channel 9??). Now wouldn't that be a juicy prospect from a neutral point of view? Having said that I still think it is sad that our once great competition is reduced to a battle between 2 commercial TV stations.

Whether Steve Butler said accurate is ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT. The fact is that THERE WAS NO contract between Channel 7 and the WAFC when West Perth signed their sponsorship with Channel 9.

It is an absolute indictment on the competency of the WAFC that they have allowed this farce to get to this stage. How much is Channel 7 being paid to telecast the WAFL and who is calling the tune.

An ABSOLUTE JOKE and Messrs Walton et al should resign ASAP.
