As a WAFL footy follower one can only hope this does end up with all the protagonists under oath and having to explain the correctness and details of in my eyes what amounts to a debatable tendering process in which the broadcast rights of WAFL footy were sold for negative $1mllion dollars. Did ch9 want more than one million to " buy " the broadcast rights? I smell a rat and very much doubt these very righteous individuals involved would want this tender process put under the microscope.

No matter what the WAFC say to try and wriggle out of this or point the finger at others, ultimately they are accountable for the health of the WAFL competition and by any measure they have failed miserably. This stand off has been going on for the whole season and there has been more than adequate time for them to resolve this. If the board directors and managers of the WAFC were at a bank or a mining company they would have been sacked ages ago for incompetence.

What I feel sad about as far as the WAFL competition is concerned is that on the eve of the finals series I open the paper this morning to see a article by Steve Butler on page 3, outlining the WAFC's case against West Perth. In the footy pages the main story is a former Swans president opining that the Peel situation has put a stain on the whole WAFL and then at the bottom of the page is a smaller article about the actual football and the teams for tomorrow, mainly who will be debuting for Peel. Claremont were barely mentioned as the opposition for East Perth, no discussion on their team selection.

Frankly I don't give a stuff about channel 7 or 9, obviously they are just using their media outlets to take pot shots at each other with the WAFL competition being the cannon fodder. I care about our competition.

It was always going to be difficult to get some traction for the WAFL finals given the probability that 4 AFL finals will be played in Perth in September, but the circus that is unfolding around us now will ensure that this is the most underwhelming finals series in WAFL history.

Big blow for WAFL my arse Bazza. Show me where TV coverage of the WAFL this year has increased or benefited any clubs financial position.

Yep as it alludes to in the WA TODAY article.

"Furthermore the Seven Network is rumoured to have paid nothing to the WAFC for the rights so no financial return from the rights can be expected by any WAFL club."

Source www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/legal-threats...20150905-gjfspq.html

Another interesting point is when WIN 9 was taken over by 9 again David Mott wanted to re negoiate with the WAFC...
Channel 9 said they would broadcast games with EP wearing the 7 Logo.
They would continue to sponser WP but also pay 10,000 to each WAFL G7 club.
They would broadcast all WAFL games and finals.
etc...

They were frozen out of negoiations as the WAFC had made their mind up about 7!!

Nine’s managing director David Mott said those discussions were before he was appointed.

Late last year Mr Mott said Nine had been “frozen” out telecast rights by the WAFC anyway.

He told The Sunday Times the station’s “numerous” requests to meet with Mr Walton to pitch for the rights had been “rejected”.

And lets not forget this...The WAFC stealing a sponser off CLA and EF..

WTF B) Yeh sure the WAFC SUPPORTS THE WAFL - NOT!

As the old saying goes and describes the WAFC

“The dog returns to eat its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

West Perth know their stance on this.
They are always professional in everything they do.
Putting it nicely, the WAFC should be scared.

Why are there 3 different threads going on this topic? I realise that one was started by a troll. What is more annoying is the multiple posting of the same stuff into these different threads. Why don't we just stick to one thread?

And it continues... today in WA TODAY..

West Perth and WAFC hoping to broker TV deal over Channel Seven blackout

au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/294627...already-on-thin-ice/

In part

Radio 6PR football commentator Karl Langdon reported on Tuesday morning there would be no more meetings between the two parties and Falcon games would not be shown on Channel Seven during the finals.
"There are no other negotiations to take place and as it stands right now, if West Perth make the preliminary final and grand final there will be no telecast," Langdon told Radio 6PR.
"Done. That's it."

West Perth president Brett Raponi didn't want to respond to Langdon's claims, but said the club was planning to meet up with the WAFC in the coming days.
"Negotiations are still ongoing with the WAFC and we are still hopeful we can broker a deal," he said.
Only three days ago it appeared West Perth and the WAFC were heading to court, with the Falcons threatening to sue the commission if it ends up losing a $300,000 sponsorship deal with Channel Nine.

"Should WPFC suffer loss or damage... whether by reason of loss of its sponsorship with Channel Nine or loss of benefits under that sponsorship, WPFC will look to hold the WAFC legally liable for such loss and damage..." the letter states.

West Perth TV saga: Falcons’ Channel 9 logo could be shrunk on jumpers for WAFL finals

In part

THE Channel 9 logo on West Perth jumpers would be shrunk as part of a compromise deal put to the WA Football Commission on Monday night.

PerthNow understands that West Perth met with Channel 9 boss David Mott yesterday and put to him two alternative jumper designs for the rest of the finals.

The alternative designs included a much smaller Channel 9 or Channel 9 News logo than is currently displayed on the Falcons’ jumpers.

The alternatives, which Channel 9 agreed to, were put to the WAFC on Monday night.
