Cardy...it is imperative that WP improve sharply and after their next match start winning games immediately. Those Ch7 numpties need to be put in to place and WP playing a prominent role in the finals is essential. I am sending positive vibes to WP this year and that is coming from a one-eyed SD supporter. Please excuse me if any criticism of WP from me is interpreted as negative. It is only attended as positive contrsuctive criticism. WP are my second team for the year if not only to serve this greater purpose.

Thanks for the positive input mate... SD is going to be a great Anzac game as usual.
Now a I said last year Geappen is the key.. Riggio err maybe.
Hey you have alway come put with Constructive criticism and I know that.. IT IS THE NEGATIVE WP criticism that has really pissed me off. I am sure you see at bit of it at SD depending on whether you win or lose :(
If you consider the CHAN 7 issue your only reasoning for WP getting into the finals see that as a bit narrow.. but having said that I can understand as a SD supporter you have the WAFL at heart and that is the bottom line.. I am the same.

ps mate I spent a lot of time researching the Neil Mildenhall number re doggies Best Numbers in the game and couldnt find out much. Sandover in 1993. Great.
Sure someone will come up with an answer... Interested to see who Doggies top 3 are wearing the number one jumper. ...

Go WAFL

Doggies final votes came came out while doing this post... Interesting but no complaints.

Looking forward to no 2 ..... Now this is a great topic on OZFOOTY and certainly brings back memories...

Copy of Doggies post

K folks, here are the top 3 from players who have been nominated over the past week.

Based on medals won, personality, impact on their generation and of course football ability - just my opinion but I will try and be as partial as a SF 41 yr old can be =)

3rd best player in the WAFL to have worn number 1

Noel Carter - SF

2nd best player in the WAFL to have worn number 1

Peter Featherby - SUBI

Best player in the WAFL to have worn number 1

Merv McIntosh - PTH

As with you Cardy I'm sure it's hard to pledge support for any other club than your own. That said a strong WP is critical to WAFL footy as is a strong SD. If my mob don't win it then put it this way...I'd prefer WP to succeed as they are the opposition club I hate the least.

I spent 3 years in juniors alongside Christian Kelly (big Ronnie too) helping him nurture his left foot kicking skills so when he kicked that goal from the boundary 50mtr out to seal the deal in I think the 99GF I celebrated on the inside...just a little. We used to try and kick left foot barrel worm burners thru each other from 30mtrs apart every training night during warm ups and both had it down to a fine art by the end of our junior years. Who had the better left foot will be an eternal debate but will comfortably concede Chris had me covered on all other levels on the footy field. If i had a 3goal game he generally kicked 8-10 as a centre man but at least id get him to take a backward step when connecting with those opposite foot worm burners. Not sure if this gives me any street cred at WP but does bring back fond memories of a time when I could run and kick without popping another hammy. On that, do you see Ron or Chris hanging around the club these days?

Speaking to Slick last week at the Footy an believe it or not Christian is still playing and coaching.. (critter was his nickname wasnt it?)

Isnt it funny how you remember certain moments of your Footy. I can remember and picture it perfectly (well except for The SF lights) where Christian we were about 5 points down after the 30 minute mark and Kelly marked the ball about 40 mtrs out on the left flank.. Siren went and he kicked the goal.. we won by a point v SF.. Night game at Freo... Shit now that is a memory because it was all over as far as the WP Supporters were concerned.

I dont see them but hear about them.. They obviously are still involved in Footy and have a lot to do. Saw Christian at a game last year and great to see him and say hello.. He appreciated being known. The problem with these guys they are soon forgotten and a lot dont even remember them to see them.

If I see a past player I make a point of having a talk and telling them how much the club appreciated them as I do.. All helps and I mean every word of it.
Havent see John Duckworth for a couple of years but see him at the Vietnam vets reunion at Bruce rock each year. He is a Grey Nomad now I goes to the warm weather up north during the Cold winters. His bones must be weary LOL. B)

Bill Dempsey is not around as much as he used to be but from what I hear he heads north to Darwin his town of origin..As long as he supports Buffaloes. Shit watched the NTAFL GF on TV and St MARY'S certainly got a shock in that one. Red hot favourites but went down.
Goes to show you FOOTY IS A FUNNY GAME ;) Bit of a round up on that surprise win for the Wanderers.. Shit talk about coming home strong.

Hard road to the grand final

Saint Mary's had lost only two games all season, won the minor premiership, and beat second-placed Southern Districts by 107 points to qualify for the grand final, and earn a week off.

By contrast, Wanderers were languishing in seventh place before they strung together the wins needed to make the final series.

A close win against Palmerston in round 18 meant they qualified fifth for the finals, with a 9-9 record.

But tough wins against the Tiwi Bombers, Nightcliff and Southern Districts had them battle-hardened for a grand final rematch with the team that beat them by 30 points last year.

With WP if you want to see the past players you have to go to Cervantes as thats where a few are still hanging out. Slick told me Leccy is having another season there but now surprising considering he has been top goal kicker in that league and he is a War Horse...

Anyway will chat again DW... Good to talk WAFL

You gotta be joking...he's still playing...although half a year younger than me he's bloody gone and got me covered there too!!! I played until 38 in ammos but theres not even solace in that now with this information...thank god for the left foot debate coz I'm definitely not going to be bringing attention to winning Simpson Medal's in winning WAFL GF teams next time we cross paths :) ....hopefully at a 25yr reunion of our undefeated U17's season back in 1990 some time this year if I can round up the fellas.

In saying that we might as well attempt to hold it at WP if Chris & Ron can pull strings as I reckon we have quite a few other lads still peeved with SD and who still won't go back there after being overlooked for propped up second raters from Swan View JFC (none of whom went on with it excl Jason Ball who was the year before...apologies to Freddie Haynes who could play but got knocked out too much) who were the only team to get within 20goals of us that year, their best effort being a 12goal loss on GF day after we switched off in the last qtr. Amazing how much say influential parents had on colt selection at SD during that period. How Ron & Chris were ever allowed to slip thru SD hands back then I'll never know. We all knew how good they were especially Chris. Ron developed in to the best ruck in the league there for quite a few years and it could be argued he had a bigger impact at WAFL level in the end although I'm not gonna make that call as my only claim with them two is I'm absolutely convinced i had them both covered on the left foot. Know I won't get any arguments from Ron on that one...as for Chris hmmmm. If memory serves me right Ron was forced in to wearing a pair of brand new boots in the 99 GF after a preliminary final boot catastrophe and tore his feet to shreds on the day....hence Chris won the Simpson and not Ron.....had nothing to do with Kell's 30 odd possessions and 4goals including the sealer on the day hey Ron....he's just lucky Ron had sore feet :pinch:

Cardy
Please tell me that you actually put thought into your post?? Shit, I know you and you DID - - bugga :(
I certainly did when I mention mine

Once again you have proven that unless you 'agree' with CARDY then the opinion has less validity!! and you turn it into something it is not and never stated it was... is that the cardy way??because that's the perception..

1. why are 'you' the only person who can critique the players or the coaches and feel the comments have merit (please don't try to turn this around - read your own posts re selections etc)
2. why is it that if another poster is honest in 'his assessment' of the players and their output that the great CARDY feels that these comments are not worthy and that all of a sudden you are the only one carrying the WP banner and that all other are NEGATIVE and dont see the future .... jeeezuz and you think your pissed off!!
3. I have not given the season away as you so rigorously protest in capitol letters but rather point out my opinion... and it differs from yours!! . I appreciate the mistake that seems to spark in your world but get over it and move on.
4. Take the time to read more than the lines that irritate you and to consider why another makes the observations that they do. Your words in reply often show a disability to do so

Fark mate I have seen a spark in your previous posts that have shone light on your literary ego ( we all have one)but this is ridiculous.

Take a step back and remember your words regards the little input from other posters on this site and wonder why .....

Atleast I have offered the respect of ' I agree to disagree' where as yours is seemingly from a lofty position..

This time I do not apologies for comments made - sadly you are not the rich all knowing supporter you report to be but rather an insular, self absorbed individual that could and should open up to others opinions and NOT put words into their posts ...
'perception is reality' and the perception you portray is unkind mate.

Shame but at this point you've lost me ....but that is of no consequence in the big picture

The fact is that the club hasn't and I will continue to post here, with my opinions and feelings on the game , the players and the coaches etc.

As these are my opinions - my observations, and my words, opinions and observations will stand or fall as they are written.

Growler what you say is correct and this is a open board with everyone welcome to their opinions.. I enjoy reading feedback especially from you as you seem to be one of the few who actually bothers and I appreciate that.
Shit if we all agreed it would become a pretty boring Football site.

As you say

As these are my opinions - my observations, and my words, opinions and observations will stand or fall as they are written.

Have a good week and lets hope we can come back v SD which considering their form is going to be a true test of our clubs season and the we have the EP EAGLES comming up in round 8 that I am looking forward to. The game revolves around who the eagles decide to play but they have turned a corner. Hopefuly this is only temporary and the same goes for Peel.

Growler my friend. This is an open forum and sometimes I don't agree with Cardys opinions but he does create discussion and I do respect his opinion and passion. Cardy and I have nearly come to blows over opinions but I always have respected his view. Cardy is a top bloke, he fought under the aussie flag and is a survivor. I believe his contribution to this forum is valued by most. We are all brothers.
