Now the memory is a bit sketchy but I’m pretty sure he said that they were trying to go away from branding themselves as the Demons as in some cultures the Demon is considered to be offensive. He made reference to Melbourne doing the same thing as well. So we will still, like Melbourne, affectionately be referred to as the Demons but will be branded as the Perth Football Club.

There was never any mention of the sash being removed from the guernsey.

I've been thinking about our moniker in recent years and it doesn't invoke a positive image. As a kid I loved it, Carn you Demons, the Demons chant in the grandstand, Demons... Demons...

Some of us still shout out redlegs, I know I bring that out occasionally and we were never the redlegs in my time but I guess when I was a kid sitting in a packed grandstand I probably heard the older generation referring to the Demons as redlegs.

Personally, I'd be happy to go back to that. We haven't changed our socks and nor should we I think they look great. I think Norwood in the SANFL are still known as the redlegs aren't they?

In this day and age with the awareness about mental health a person's personal battles are often referred to as his or her demons or inner demons. I mean what is a demon anyway? It's not a real thing it's just a descriptive word.

Others thoughts?

I'm not sure how that works BH and whether it's either paid for by the WAFC or a government department or sponsors. I wouldn't think the clubs would be too keen on forking out for unique jumpers just for one game....not sure.

I bet the WAFC pays for the indigenous round jumpers.

I remember thinking about this name years ago, googled it and it’s already taken. Perth Redbacks are a state basketball league club. Would have been ideal. Redback spiders are native to WA and they got that striking red stripe on their jet black body.

If there is going to be an eventual move away from Demons let’s go back to Redlegs.

If we changed from Demons - I would except going backwards to Rovers or Redlegs. Anything else and I would not renew my membership.
