We are trying to get supporters back. Changing our traditional jumper will turn them away.

If this league had one iota of a clue there would be a retro round scheduled each season - the clubs could showcase their respective historic jumpers

I think that the centenary jumper 1999 was ok but, for me. the good old black with red sash will always be the one for the Demons.
A few seasons back we had a ridiculous white away strip. Terrible and no good when we played Souths at Freo Oval.

Cess, there has been no reference to the President and Board ,as a whole, being in favour of any change.
The original post stated that ONE Board member had suggested a new jumper design.
We will await to see what happens.

I was around STT. We did change from Redlegs to Demons when we moved from the WACA to Lathlain Park. The original idea came from club stalwart Bob Miller, the father of Ian.
The club song was written by club member Laurie Ryan and adopted in 1966.
From memory a change from the black jumper with red sash was never contemplated until sometime in the late 80s or 90s.
Personally I was never in agreement with the several jumper changes that were made and was so glad that we returned to our traditional one.
I will still fight to keep it.

Ok guys I have some more information. Some rumour some confirmed. Here is what I know:

1. The club has contacted several members to form a committee in relation to re branding as advised by this company www.meerkats.com.au/. (Confirmed)
2. The idea has come from Carloyn Hall who has contacts in the Meerkats company. (Rumour)
3. The current idea is to do away with the Demon logo and replace with PD initials. (Rumour)
4. The meeting was held last Thursday afternoon in conjunction with the members to duscuss and plan the change. (Confirmed)
5. One member who was contacted and asked to be involved has refused and become angry at the suggestion and has asked why this idea is not being forwarded to all members for comment. No answers have been given. (Confirmed)

OK. This then is a big worry if the rumours you mention are confirmed.
I would need some big time convincing that the club needs any re-branding.
Perhaps the premise is that the club needs to divorce itself from 120 years of history of being the least successful club in the WAFL

Not sure what you’re making a fuss about...you’ll still be the Perth Demons with the same club colours.
You’ve already had 3 different logos and 3 different jumper designs that I know of - 4 if you include the reverse colour jumper.

Who knows a slight rebrand might attract some new younger supporters and increase merchandise sales

Some Hip marketing agency "dudes" called "Meerkats" advising the Dees to change their classic uniform, hilarious. This is like a comedy sketch surely Bob Shields will politely tell them thanks but no thanks
