This can be done easily by threatening to withdraw the EAgles and Dockers from the AFL. Naturally, such a thought would never have occurred to members of the Commission because they do not govern in the interests of WA football in its totallity.

I reckon that is the best way to go, but cant see it happening.

Yep, you need a club with a mindset for hard nosed recruiting, and of course cash to burn i.e. Subi, EF just doesn't have those resources, they struggle to keep the place open.

Tim Kelly, Liam Ryan, Aiden Tropiano, Ricky Cary- all originally in EF zone. They'd be handy for EF right now

Our recruiting is fine. Two Sandover Medallists in last ten years, plenty of State players etc. The question is why is our bottom 10 so far off other Clubs, not our top 10.

Simply put STT we have lacked depth because for years now the transition paths have been clogged because we hung on to second rate players far too long instead of turning over the player group year by year.
This resulted in frustration for some talented kids not getting opportunities which has seen them drift away to amateur or country footy.
This year has been a big turnaround and there are a lot of kids being given the opportunity to show what they have got. BUT, too much should not be expected from them too soon. It will take time to allow them to develop and their bodies to build to enable them to compete with more experienced and bigger bodied opponents.

We have given so many kids a go over the last 5 years, we have not stopped anyone with talent and application from getting a game. Unfortunately they have not delivered due to a lack of application, injury or other problems. Some egs:

Mickey Florio
Kieran Hug
Daniel Arangio
Scott Moore
Callum Collard
Benjamin Power
Matt Wellburn
Brett Hodge
Michael Mather
Ali Smith
Matt Boyle
Daniel Murray
Haydn Busher
Joel Leeson
Drew Robinson
Aaron Elari
Chris Vidot
Joel Houghton

Plenty fo talent there and all got a real good go at it and none have made an impact since leaving (obviously not those cruelled by injury like the very unlucky Hodgey but none others except a few good games from Elari).

It is depth, not opportunity that is the problem.

If you can think of anyone wh left because of lack of opportunity and rubbed our noses in it in the last 10 years, please...

Matt Rogers is making a pretty good fist of rubbing our noses in it

STT, IMO of that group only Hodge (cruelled by injury), Smith, Busher, Elari and Rogers, Robinson up to WAFL standard (first 22). If we had been able to retain them they would have been the base around which a very good team could have been built given recruits such as Young and Bevan were at the club during that period.
Credit McDud 5 out of 6.
