Right on Ark. I cannot remember an instance where the WAFC has stood up for the WAFL against the AFL and its clubs. Remember when the WCE decided to play home games on Saturday afternoon, not boo from the WAFC even though the WCE were getting full houses on Sundays/Saturday nights. Now of course the WA AFL clubs have given up on that idea. Remember when WCE decided to play a game on WA Day - again not boo from WAFC even though it is WAFL's second biggest day of the year (biggest when some sides play in GF). Of course the WCE dropped that one too.

When do they govern in the interests of WA football, including the WAFL? Never when it conflicts with anything AFL or their clubs doing.

We are not begging here, the WAFL comp remains important and relevant and generates a lot of interest even if crwods are poor.

Why not a review headed - how to increase WAFL crowds and the evenness of the competition? The AFL would have held such a review if they had the situation the comp the WAFC runs is currently encountering. There is just no interest at WAFC in this - why are they charged with running the comp????

Which was exactly my point. Not belly-aching about my team's lack of success or begrudging other teams' Glory. Purely a question as to who actually governs the WAFL and why there isn't a Board of passionate, relevant people responsible purely for the WAFL? Just as there seems to be in the SANFL and, dare I say it, every single other sporting competition in the country, if not the world!!

Claremont has lost a heap as well.

AFL longevity between EF players and Cl players is the key mate....Cl lose a heap but a get a shed load back still young because their AFL careers were cut short....what EF could of done if the likes of McPharlin,Sandi,Cousins, Kerr,Black,Taylor,Kennedy,Swallow,Ryder etc had been delisted early on in their careers between 2000-10....sadly they were good...too good.

stand the test: yep, agree 100 per cent.

Freeze: EF have been unlucky in that respect; the opposite of Subi, I think whom have had plenty of players come back to the club for a number of reasons.

Ark and CM, been reading on this site for a long time and never seen a better series of posts. Great call, where else would you see a comp being run by a body that does not have that comp as its main priority. Bit like the AFL being run out NFL HQ in US.

stand the test: thanks; good post too; the truth is, as you auggestted above, there is a huge conflict of interest in WA football, one between the WAFL on the one side and the AFL clubs and the Football Commission on the other side.

Hope Perth can become a force again would make things more interesting and before their supporters all pass on. They dont seem they far off it but has looked that way before as for interstate recruits they have been playing in the WAFL since time began and added greatly to the competition.
Many become locals like Cook and Hockey at South.

Come on mate, we have the passionate Rick Gloede as the WAFL rep on the WAFC, what more could we ask for.
