Thanks Dazzler.
I think that some of them may develop.
The fitness is the key.
Some of them show ability but have not been fit for League footy.

Mr AFL wrote: Well now that the two interclub games are out of the way the build up until round one kicks up a gear with two scratch matches against Subiaco at Lathlain on Saturday March 7 and East Fremantle at Shark Park on Saturday March 14.

A couple of things I noticed from the interclub match on Friday.

  • The players do seem to be fitter. We will be able to get a better idea of just how much when the start to play other teams I spose.
  • The skill level demonstrated on Friday night was very poor. Hopefully it was just one of those nights but if this is a precedent for the season ahead then expect a lot of turnovers.
  • Rowan Garlett looks a lot taller than I remember and has also got some size about him. He isn't massive but from what I saw of him on Friday night he showed some good signs and his one that I will watch closely over the next two games to see how he goes. If he continues to do well then he maybe in line for a round one call up.
  • Two new ruckman in Richard Wallis and Rhys Ironmonger. Both battled hard and it will be interesting to see how they go against the Lions and Sharks. Ironmonger looked like he was able to do more around the ground.

Bring on the Lions this Saturday.

How did Stack go?

Great news Dazz. He could be anything at WAFL level if we use him properly and look after him.

You answered your own question D 13 re McMahon.

There is a suggestion that Hodgey may be right to play despite earlier reports that his footy career could be over due to that broken arm.
Dazz, do you know anything?

Smokey all I know is that everytime I've been at training Hodgey has had an arm guard on and has mostly been doing drills away from the competitive stuff.

Gee a forward line with Stack, Collard, Lawrence, Garlett and Mitch Morton could be interesting...provided they get the ball down there often enough. Ben Power played CHF Friday night. Played forward a fair bit in his colts days.

D13 - every season that previous fraud of a coach used to scapegoat someone for his own failings. Three years ago it was Elari, two years ago it was Ali Smith, last year Stacky. He'd been doing it since colts days.

Thanks Dazzler, I agree we have some good small medium forwards.
But the mistake McDud made was playing blokes like Bevan and Morton as key forwards.
We need talks down there.
How did Piwer look?
Possibility?

I remember a bloke called Jancey, wasn't pretty but brought the ball to ground.
I don't care who the talks are, get 2 down there and blokes like Morton, Stack and the others will get used correctly.
We just need the talks to bring the ball to ground.
ES would be working on this surely.

Thanks Dazzler, that's not good news.
Our tall kids must be given a go.
We can't have small and medium forwards taking the best defenders.
