Hence the delay in announcing assistant coaches. EF upped the ante.

BC wrote: hey freez...if this Mark Foster fella coached EF colts this year he doesn't have a very good reputation among some players and parents. i was involved in a junior team this year which supplied colts players to EF on a weekly basis and they weren't overly impressed with the way he goes about it.

I think that is the norm for colts or lower development coaches. They can never keep everyone happy and their is always a parent who thinks their own little Barney is better than 15 of the 22 selected each week. Sometimes even parents of kids that get a game every week are never happy.

Some of my best days watching colts has been sitting next to delusional parents bitching and moaning all game.

it wasn't so much the things you mention barney..it was more around the over structured way he set the team up in any given game...some kids weren't allowed within 5 meters of the ball at stoppages and that type of thing. the kids from our team who went down at EF's request and played colts were only 16 and they just wanted to get in their and have a kick but couldn't due to the way he had so many set plays and structures. in saying that, i'm getting it from other people as my son didn't get the call so it may not be completely on the mark.

BC, can't believe structures etc at such a young age...let them play footy for fudge sake....from what you are saying BC the fella seems better suited to senior footy rather than colts.....sounds very McMahon like!!

I.m with 30plus on this issue. We seem to be unravelling. Just appointed a league coach, no reserves coach and all the delistings happening. Perhaps it is time for a clean sweep at Lathlain

i guess the objective is to get the older kids used to senior footy where they do structure up at stoppages and give rolling coverage etc...but for the ones at 16 it seemed a bit overwhelming just talking to them. one kid came back to our club after a stint in colts and said the number of set plays he had to memorise was unbelievable.

reckon it would take the enjoyment out of playing for mine.

The Duke wanted Foster and apparently he agreed to come with him then EF upped the ante by putting pressure on to honour the last year of his contract (do they really mean anything anymore?) so he renegged and stayed. Whatever has happened just means that we are in a really poor position at a very crucial time for the next season

So Foster wanted out to move to Perth and assist Spalding but East put the pressure on to save face after announcing at their presentation he would continue in 2015. So now they have a colts coach who has a position that is not his first preference. Mmmm!

So what you are really saying is...."It's business as normal for the PFC!"
