He could have been a wonderful player had he got himself fit.
And yet we allow players to dictate whether they will train or not.

Guys we all know that can't happen. The club simply does not have the resources. Marty just has to control that pit bull of his or change is required there. I would love to see John Dimmer or someone like Brian Cook, Colin Lofts, Bob Sheilds, Bryan Cousins etc.. get involved at board level.

30+, the Football Director is an elected position just like all the Board members. He is not an employee. He is allocated his portfolio, presumably by the President.
All Board members are subject to re-election. There has been no election for about 10 years as there have been no-one put their hand up to stand for election except the retiring Directors. Not an ideal situation at all.

IMHO, most of them have been there far too long and the club badly needs new blood to come on board. But that is the rub. IMV it needs a group to come together and form a ticket with strong leadership, together with a blend of football and business acumen. Perhaps a mixture of outsiders and passionate club supporters.
A big ask.

I'm not quite sure how that (a ticket) would work given that the Directors retire in rotation with roughly half one year and the rest the following year.
There is no-one on the Board with the football nouse to act as Director of Football so who does the President choose for the job?
He could co-opt someone but that would depend on the number of Directors allowed or whether he could dump someone to make room.
The lack of elections is of concern, however, I'm not sure there are too many capable candidates around the Club.
Don't get me wrong we have some wonderful volunteers.
It has become practice for the President to discourage elections starting with Mr Matthews.
The problem with that is that you end up with autocratic rule as the mates are gathered around.
At our club we have had ineffective Directors for years.
I cannot recall our previous football director being seen much at games.
Show me the Directors that attend away games.
Given no lunch for most of them at away games.
A consortium of supporters/members need to find someone (the right President) and then assist with setting out what the board needs in the way of Directors portfolios and people to fill them.
Bandy together and form a committee of members hell bent on finding the right Board.

Yes similar problem at EP there is no alternative board or even board member to vote for. I have never heard a coach say that after a game about there team. Very interesting talking to some of the guys from the Eagles that moved from Perth. Also some of the guys that went to Perth from EP over the last five years. Who are the board members at Perth if I may ask and what is their background, are they Perth people.

This picture tells me exactly why we are on the bottom of the ladder,count the number of Perth players around the 1 East Perth player with the ball,i'm surprised EP didnt kick 40 goals,where are there opponents??
Maybe we should go that extra bit and be exactly like the Melbourne Footy club and ask the WAFL for some priority picks!!
