We haven't come close to meeting our needs, Smokey. We have one ruckman. One experienced tall defender who is not fully fit. Two  tall forwards - Quartermaine and Martin - who are not established league players. A very shallow midfield - after Byrne, Manzone, Thompson and Clark, there's not much there and I imagine we will have to resort to putting guys like Cary and Stubbs in the middle when they should stay forward.

We need to recognise that of the confirmed recruits, only Manzone and Thompson have any sort of state league pedigree. Manzone came to us only because he wouldn't be the starting 22 at WP. The others - well, I hope they work out, but they consist of players from lower leagues, or fringe players from rival clubs. It is also a concern that we were beaten by other clubs when competing for players. Obviously we can't get everyone we target, but we were interested in Maibaum, Waterman, Turner, Crowden, Broadbent and missed all of them. I think the club recognises where we are at, with the "Be patient, stay positive motto." We need to use this season to show enough improvement that top tier players and their managers will see Perth as a good place to play. As things stand, if we can win 4 games and have a % around 70, it will be a good result.

I cannot fault your comments Ted.
Manzone and Thompson have State League experience. They appear as strong bodied and no nonsense contest mid-fielders who will  benefit Byrne and Clarke at bounce downs and stoppages.
Ewing, Paton and Jackson have limited league exposure and will need to show that they are not just cast-offs from other clubs.
Howard and Lane from O & M Vic. Barwick from TAS looks like he has mongrel in him especially in the ring.
Stack, we know is abilities but he does have personal demons off-field. Time only will tell.
Pascu, I have commented earlier on his abilities.  He is apparently living with Germo and although no state league experience is only 18 but was captain of Calder Cannons and played with Vic Metro last season and imo does appear to be a good pick-up. Again, only time will tell.
Yes, we still need much more. Tall forward and defender, I hope AJ’s injury is not as bad as it could be. He was being tried as a CHB.
Lastly, the ruck. AJ is gone for now. We cannot go with just DBW. It would not be good for him not to have any back-up. Whatever, we need a couple of rucks with experience and ability.
There was a suggestion that Busher may have a change of mind on retiring. Any intel on that?

Smokey, he played a couple of VFL games for Essendon last year.

What's this about Friday drinks at the club?
That made your ears prick up didn't it Mr A? 😂
I was speaking to Koshi. Sorry about the spelling. Top bloke and past players and officials representative. He expects to have something organised by end of Feb. Let's get along, support, put our differences aside and have a good time

He may have been referring to the Thursday night training bar which operates out of the Presidents Lounge and usually starts closer to the season.

Here is another fascinating interview with German. It is hard not to #staypositive 😉 when you hear his outlook on the club, his plans for the squad and other bits about Charlie Thompson and Ben Cousins.

it seems Stubbs is doing well at Fremantle training. Good pick up for Peel this season.

Yep another good interview two things I picked up, he sounds disappointed we weren’t able to attract a couple of key position players but said we gave it a good crack, although one is pending. But it sounds like he’s settled in now and and he has fully embraced the club and the challenges ahead and has a clear plan and vision and is determined to see the job through beyond his current 3 year contract.

A lot can happen and things can change but fingers crossed this is the beginning of something special for us with Peter at the helm.
