Ted that's my point.
Loersch is not a wise investment for a long term player costing 10 points or more.
From what I now gather he was injury prone and certainly not a regular at EF.
Not worth taking on at 10 points.
Not sure Langlands is up to it to be honest, so again not points well spent.
Simply being on an AFL list does not necessarily make you a good 10 point investment.
Josh Smith I think may be up to it but is injury prone, so I question whether due diligence was done.
Decisions need to be hard if we are serious.
Until we show people we are not amateurs it will be hard to attract the right people.
And too many reserves players walk through the door and ask for a game and end up being first choice.
If we are serious onfield improvement has to start with smarter recruiting.
So we need someone who can identify talent.
Not sit in an office and say yes to walk ins.

DD we have wasted 10 points on a player who will not play a game for the Club.
Just stupid.

They did someone’s dough didn’t they? Someone needs a kick up the arse for not following due diligence.

Hear what you are saying but you need to attract the right player.
Yes we need to learn from Cicco and Subi.

Loersch done and dusted…wow!

Unlucky for the big fella- it was always a risky pick. Could never get on the park enough but had some serious talent

A Full Forward that can mark and kick a goal in the mould of a Keitel/Sokol, don’t have to be monsters but great at there craft.
A Keegan Knott type wouldn’t be bad either.
A pacey mid that is good at disposal
A number one lead Ruckman that’s what he does leads the ruck can mark and kick.
A tall KP backman.
My Five wants and they have to be recruits as I can’t see anyone from within filling these roles and having an immediate impact.

Agree, 30+, but can we get that many players in one off-season? The best case scenario is that Smith can be the high disposal mid and Langlands can be the 40 goal key forward. After that, we need to recruit. The problem of course is that every other club - Australia wide - is looking for the same type of player. What can we offer? The first thing we need to do is assure players that the injury toll this season was just bad luck, and nothing to do with the playing surface or our conditioning program. A manager of a young player with AFL ambitions would advise strongly against playing for Perth if those concerns are not allayed. After that it's just money. I don't think anyone is going to believe that success is around the corner.

I am concerned about the impact of Subi. Players like Kitchin, Dela, Marsh, Lockyer and Litherland are 28 plus next season and some may not play on. If Subi are in the market for recruits, that poses a major problem. For the past number of years, WAFL recruiting has been about waiting until the AFL team lists are finalised, then waiting until Subi's list is finalised. There is no point going head to head in a bidding war with Subi. It is likely to be very difficult to get the sort of players we need to our club.
