don't mean to barge in but when the chance passes along to get a former player back to help the tyros you have to at least consider the benefits - two years assistance may gain 5 or 10 years experience and protection for those tyros to get conditioned to the game
only 2 cents worth though
Yes, I don’t disagree and someone like Conca would be one who’d fit that bill.

The types who could have played that role - Mzungu for example - seem to get sucked up by the AFL clubs “domiciled in WA”. If Mayney goes that way, no surprise.

I like how you are saying these guys are fit and would teach the younger guys a few things.  Haven’t we learned from all the other ex afl players that they don’t stay injury free.  ‘C’mon I. 2 years Masten played 8 games?  McInness has played about the same.  The injury riddled in and out of the side is worse than the benefits.

as for Luke English I heard a rumour that the real reason he went to EF is $. Apparently he asked for an extra $200 per game than what was offered and the club said no.   This is only rumour but apparently the source is usually reasonably reliable.
true or not English is the player we should have thrown the kitchen sink at - potential 10 year player.

What we had in 2020 was a genuine Spearhead who finished 2nd in the league goalkicking! Right now we have Cary who has performed we ll but is sitting 12th in the race for the Bernie Naylor on 22 goals.

We need to find a reliable consistent Full Forward

Positive to see Byrne and Sinclair have be recommitted for 2022, two players we couldn't afford to leave.

Has anyone heard any news on Elijah Taylor has progressed since the car accident he was involved in?
Avery is probably the only player with a chance of being drafted but isn't getting mentioned in the media so a good chance to remain.

Given the colts performance I'm not imaging there will be many players pushing for a league berth although Quartermaine is on the senior list

The likes of Reid, Davis, Steel and  Hunter should all improve next season

Be interesting to see what they do on the recruitment front, Swans have done well with their Eastern State recruiting by bringing across a few players who are already mates, maybe we should try for a package deal or two.

I wouldn't be expecting to see Elijah Taylor return from what I've heard.

There's some talented colts kids who would be chance to make their way to league level, Regan Hill for sure, he's a real talent and Daniel Hill. Liam Kelly is another one, a big bodied mid. Deklyn Grocott is already making his way in the reserves.

Swans have a done a great job finding exactly the players they need in the VFL thanks to the genius of the WAFL's highest paid executive, Phil Smart. They've got a few more coming next season I believe. We need recruiting like that.

Spot on Dazzler.
Not sure we have the recruiting talent.
Can't stress enough that if you are going to use points particularly 10 or above.
You need to get the best value.
Other than Paul ? and Clint Jones we have failed.
And recruit to needs.

The problem is that we are almost wholly reliant on recruiting to be successful. We would need to emulate Subi and recruit 6-7 elite players. How do we get that many top players to come to Perth? Do we have the points? We are kidding ourselves if we think we can make finals on the back of our  reserves/colts players. I think Avery will be very good. Gray can be a tagger/role player. That's about it.  We need Smith to get 30+ touches a game, we need Langlands to prove he's a league standard player, we need Loersch to play a full season and kick at least 40 goals. We then need our other top players, Sinclair, Byrne, Grey, McInnes, to have an outstanding season. Hate to be pessimistic, but it's hard not to be. I just can't see us seriously challenging for finals.

Agreed, and can we forget about E.Taylor, that bloke is zero chance of ever playing league for Perth.

I heard Loersh is done. Had another op and told to hang the boots up. Was on one crutch at the last game.
