It reminds me of Fremantle's bullshit effort to jazz it up trying to make it a bit more upbeat with the background music. Hiring local artists like Fremantle have done a couple of times with Eskimo Joe and Tame Impala is a waste of time as it is with a bloke who writes jingles for big firms.

The vocals are hopeless and out of sync, sounds like someone chatting in the background, I don't like the music. It just needs a modern version of the existing song with a strong powerful voice or voices (not footballers for sentiment purposes) and a more traditional band or orchestra type background that is crisp and clear.

I am sure they could employ the West Australian Symphony orchestra to come up with a modern version of the instrumentals and they can find a few local choir boys with powerful voices.

I imagine this one is done using a lot of modern technology blending it all in trying to iron out the kinks.

The best song I think is Swan Districts which has female voices, a lot of instrumentals which is done really well. It's a great song to sing along to. Obviously Claremont with their Richmond Tigers version, SF's is pretty good, WP and EF have borrowed Melbourne and Sydney's song. Subiaco's song I have never liked.

And I don't like that members were never consulted and given no say. Sounds and feels familiar.

Does anyone think that we can relate the words of the song to our last 40+ years???
"On the West Australian football fields we have carved a magic mark"
"We are feared by one and all"
"The more they try to conquer us the harder they will fall"
"We are rough and ruthless Demons we are the toughest in the West"
"And through thick and thin the Demon boys will always stand the test"
Really ?????

So what's your point Smokey - do you want to change the song to suit the last 40 years on field achievements ?

No PD. Just making the point that we do not perform to the level that the song suggests.
The song is great. Just a pity we cannot live up to those lofty ideals.

I heard over the weekend that the TOVP has reneged on its promise to fund the shortfall of upto $5 million for the new facility at Lathlain. Also heard that the PFC has already spent some of the money from the state and federal government. If that’s true then questions need to be asked.

Mr AFL it depends on what it has been spend on!. A separate topic on the Redevelopment maybe warranted.

On the player front, you would think Conca maybe a chance to return to Perth and bring some much need experience if he doesn't continue with Fremantle next year. Not sure of the contract status of Dean Kent but he could be a chance to return if St Kilda decide to take out the loppers

Premature, TOVP has a meeting on the 17th of August I was told. And heard other comments contrary to yours that it WILL get funded.

Kent and Conca are one point players, so they would be welcome. However, at age 28-30, if another WAFL club offers something we don't think they're worth, let them go. Neither would be the sort of player who would win you games. We should try to get Atkinson from Subi, also a one point player. However, why on earth would anyone leave Subi (or any other club) and play for Perth?

I am very concerned that the funding issue with TOVP will be used to put the squeeze on us re alignment. The TOVP may want to have an association with the Eagles brand name and, together with the Eagles, tie the money to that issue. If so, they are getting us at a vulnerable time having regard to our on field performance, injuries, list profile and junior development.

All of this talk about who we might get back from AFL etc... is immaterial in my opinion unless there is real change with our zones. And we need new growth areas and affluent older suburbs, not washed up old areas filled with high crime rates.

It is happening at East Perth, they will be the fifth club up there with Subi, Claremont, SF and WP soon.

Agreed, DD, but it's not going to happen. Even if it did, it would take 3-4 years for the players to start playing consistent footy at league level. The sad reality is that we will be dependent on recruiting for the foreseeable future. To have any chance of success, we would need to get elite WAFL players, ideally a 50 goal a year key forward. Those players are hard to get. Just to be competitive and have some depth, we will need guys like Conca, and fringe players from other clubs.
