That’s obviously what I was referring to. Baynes had a huge off season and came out smoking the following season and dominated. Went from a boy to a man. Ended tragically many years later but we won’t go into that.

DD, I'm not sure about your analogy between DBW and Rhett Baynes. Interesting though.
The fact that we have not been successful in finding a experienced ruckman means we have, once again, got to go with Eyres.
And, we must have a ruck coach to work with Eyres, DBW, Hunter and Bailey Kane (206cm). They may not be the answer and we may need some support for Eyres and that is why I include Reid as a likely prospect. He is 195cm is a good build and, it seems a good leap.
His stats in colts and reserves for hitouts and disposals are quite respectable.
Untried at league level I know, but he has obviously been held back somewhat by the likes of Goddard etc.
Again I say, given the lack of an experienced ruckman we have to try things.

The intel filtering from the Club is that the 3 Claremont boys could a good get.
That would include Reid.

Yep all true what you say Smokey, my comparison was more about fitness level and impact until he (Baynes) got serious in the gym and wow what a difference that made. I think DBW can find significant improvement if he comes back leaner and with a bit more muscle.

Well if you’re talking FF line then Cary, M.Jones, Stubbs, Richo, and the little blokes like McPartland and even Taylor, if he hangs around.

Well it's official now Froggy, looks like the club was granted it's wish. We will kick the season off on Thursday night under lights versus the toasters on April 1. Hopefully you will be there.

DD, where did you read about the opening match being on Thursday night.
I haven’t seen it announced anywhere.

Well if you’re talking FF line then Cary, M.Jones, Stubbs, Richo, and the little blokes like McPartland and even Taylor, if he hangs around.

Of those you named only Jones, Stubbs or Richo could be considered. And if it is Jones who would you play at CHF? I have all those players in my 22 except for Cary. IMO if it is not Roe it has to be Reid.
That is my view of things with what we know now. Anything could change before team for round 1 is known.

A lot will depend on fitness and form leading up to Round 1 and we should have a good idea in the intra club games later in March especially when we learn a bit about all the recruits.

My other question about your best 22 Smokey, and my knowledge on Perth is limited, but can Brandt Colledge not make your starting 18? But Josh Smith does? What's Smiths qualifications, - hasn't done anything at Afl level, don't think he's done much if anything at WAFL level, has Colledge been that pedestrian that he can't even make your 18?
