58 Subi gets a bit more respect this year..They still have the  core of that Godzilla list from a few years ago.But don't have the Subiaco stadium cash any more. And no longer get  all the cream recruiting players into the Wafl.Other clubs can successfully big against them now.

Not sure I agree, Gtr. I think it's more likely that Subi had a stable line up for most of the past number of years. They simply weren't in a position to go for players like Fisher or Schlensog. (and unlike Perth, they wouldn't be dumb enough to recruit a 31 year old with no knee cartilage.) If they lose guys like Kitchin, Dela and others, I hope other WAFL clubs are moving now to get their best players contracted. Maybe they will come back to the pack a bit. But for decades the WAFL has been all about the big 3, then daylight, then WP, then daylight, then the rest. Since 1984, there have been only 4 grand finals that haven't featured at least one of S, SF or C. 3 of those 4 featured WP. The other was 2000, which was the aligned EP, so that hardly counts. Can anyone suggest what is going to happen to change that pattern after this length of time?

Getting back on to the subject of this Claremont thread, I think the Tiges would now be considered favourites after looking at the list of injuries Souths have. They do go deep but the injuries are to their real quality players in Florenca, Main, Schlensog & Donaldson. That would be like us losing Kitch, Marsh, Clark and Heal. If those blokes do suit up there must be questions over their ability to see out the game as I expect the Tiges to bring the same very physical game plan to the prelim. It will be fun to watch Mitchell tag Schloithe, Mitchell has become a real sniper, gives away a lot of frees but does take his opponents focus away from the game, something that is easily done to Schloithe, who, if left along can take the opposition apart.
I’m thinking if the Tigers get through, it could be a cracking Grand Final. Seems the last two games between the clubs has left some blood boiling. Can’t wait to see Kitch & Thug Mitchell line up

Not knocking them gtr.  Hopefully they come back to the pack which could help make our comp a real competition.  Problem could arise again from the 2 AFL cashed up teams if they start throwing their gifted fat wallets around.  Oh well, as I said before, that’s modern day footy.

Back to the pack 58??? I could have sworn a Jono Marsh inspired Sharks beat us only a couple of months ago and before that Swans and WCER...so I think we're well and truly in and amongst the pack.

We were 4 points away from dropping to 3rd place after we almost blew the last game of the season v Peelmantle, we ended up 1 game clear but a lower % than Souths so that meant the top 5 was pretty compact compared to previous years. I think next year will be closer with Swans and EF in particular on the rise. Dela, Kitch, Lockyer, Dewar & Marsh are close to the end of their careers, we will likely lose Clark to the draft, so yes we will be back in the pack. But this year we still have these guys playing good footy and hopefully one more flag in them, but if Claremont make it they will be super motivated after last year and the the very physical game they are currently playing will serve them well in the GF. Anyone who still calls them handbaggers is kidding themselves. Souths are a really classy outfit but injuries at the wrong time could decide their fate, but anything can happen, they will embrace the underdog tag as I think most will have CL as favourites.

I know the number 58 is probably relevant to your I.Q.so you probably would find this hard to comprehend, but there is a points cap in place, and as i understand it,our cap allocation is similar to yours.

Souths are missing the Schlong, Blayne Wilson and Dylan Main this week but that's about all I can see. Florenca has been named as has Donaldson so think they'll be very competitive again. This should be a good game with Souths having one extra day to recover although it could be a heavy track with rain forecast.

OK so not quite as bad as first thought but will those other guys stand up to the heat of a prelim against a very physical Tigers.
The 3 outs are all talls and key players and Main is a very influential skipper, so will be hard to cover.

Let's hope the umps run out of blank pages in their report books and the team medicos have their rings hanging out....nothing serious obviously ...maybe a hammy tweak, nasty corky or similar ...just enough for a few key players to miss a week. ;-)
