I always felt that Stiffy Harding was quite a good coach and got what he could out of his Swans group, I'd like to see him as an applicant at Tigerland. What did other Swans supporters think about Harding, BH what was your conclusion about Harding

TOO Stiffy was on a hiding to nothing when he took over from Daws straight after our drought breaking 2010 Premiership win.
He had done an apprenticeship with our Colts winning a flag in 2008 there but 2011 we suffered from a massive hangover from the previous season and never really got going not helped either by losing our 3 best players from the 10 GF Krakouer, Twomey & Coniglio to the afl.
In 2012, 13, 14 & 15 we were around the mark but probably peaked before the finals and in his last couple of years the drain of quality players leaving and no quality recruiting due to our financial position at the time finally took its toll and his frustration at times showed on game day when we didnt perform anywhere near how we should have been.
I think his best coaching year was in 2014 where he got a side who had been decimated by players leaving to Subi, WP etc and had been tipped to finish last by all the so called experts in the WA media had us on top of the ladder two thirds into the season but late in the year we were running on empty and limped into the 1st Semi.
I thought he was keen on following the football talent managing path into the future but being an old Claremont boy he might throw his hat in to the ring for the coaching gig.
Whoever gets the role is going to have to have immediate results and not impossible with your continual depth coming through but there would be even more pressure on to succeed than usual with Harris's recent results and then dismissal!

I cannot see the Dees dumping Gary Moss before he has got started.
And Earl is supposedly carrying on in a mentoring role.
Can't see where Harris would fit in though he would continue the Claremont connection started by Dale Ballantyne.
Going through Claremont's list there are some choice pickings that Harris might bring to the club.
No, I am sure it will be what it is....just an unfounded rumour.

df,smoke: let us hope so, because, given the attitude of a couple of PFC chaps to Harris, it would be humouros to see, indeed.

Gary Moss is our new coach for the next 3 years so if Perth FC is speaking to Harris I imagine it's a discussion about a mentoring role for the new senior coach. Got no problem with that although as I think Smokey has already alluded to Spalding had already agreed to stick around for that role to assist Mossy as required. But things can change. Maybe Earl has had a job offer or is pursuing other business interests.

Is Dale Ballentyne still there?
Maybe an Admin role is on offer?

Dale got the flick after the Leggett fiasco. Trevor Williams was appointed interim football manager. Not sure if he's taken it on officially or they are still looking for a replacement. I can't see Harris working as a recruiting officer.

I'd say it would be as a mentor for the whole coaching group if we can afford that luxury.

Back to the topic. The gossip I have from the mate of the mates mother who is friends with the cleaner of the board room at Claremont. Actually albeit second hand from a board member. Harris was sacked because the board beleive they have the best senior list in the WAFL and as such should not have lost the GF let alone the two bad losses suffered in the season. Had he won the GF he would have been extended for one year only. They believe there is a better coach out there, when I asked who that is I was told they don't know but are sure there is one to be had!

Having a had a nephew play and captain the Tigers I reckon that this so very much a Claremont mentality. Woe be tide the incoming coach if this the boards attitude and opinion of their list. Yes the list is better than some but the list is only one part of the equation with the coach only being another part.
