For example if Harris had had the same results at SD as he has at CL in the last 4 years he would have a ten year + coaching contract on the table right now!

If Swans had Claremont’s list and depth I would expect flags.
Reading the articles from Townsend the board made it clear their expectations in regards to game style based on the list, coach had his own style, board will always win.

Yes very true MO, my comment was a little tongue in cheek.
When you actually take a real close look at Claremont over the last 40 odd years their Colts have barely missed the finals since 1975 and ditto the Ressies & League.
That means they always have massive depth that clubs like ours can only dream about so the expectation should be a Top 3 or 4 finish at the minimum each season.
In my time the only time I can remember a poor (totally underperforming) Claremont side was when Roger Kerr was coaching in around 2008/09 and the fact McPhee came in mid season and they pretty much became dominate again straight away suggests that year wasnt an ability issue!

all: I have been unable to find an example of a coach making the gf going the the next year, but there are a few whose clubs' got them the following year:

Dennis Jones WP
Colin Beard SF
Alan Joyce EF; John Todd EF Brad Smith EF
G Farmer EP
Ken Armstrong PFC

some of them had won flags
Harris had not done so, at CL in four years

of all those whom could have gone the same year, Dennis Jones would be the one to single out. WP had won two flags very recently and had beaten Subi in every game the two clubs played throughout the season. In addition to that, as people know, WP won the flag again in 75 by a record margin, at least in the gf result

PS: Verdun Howell -- 2 in 72 last the following year, survived being sacked by the CL board -- by the way, he has great Christian name. He went at the end of 74.

Yes STT it is great to see a club with enough Balls to make the hard decisions and not hang on to duds, otherwise yo will spend 10 years in the wilderness like SDFC have done.

it is very true; I think there were two great coaches post-war whom have managed to avoid a wooden spoon -- Lewington and Bunton. Bunts got a few in SA coaching Sturt. Even bloody Johnny Leonard got a wooden spoon at CL in 46-- he never botherred after that season.

My last 3 post are exactly where I left them, otherwise you wouldn't be able to comment.The Moderator will verify he or she has not removed any of my posts, So Marley wrong again. 0/10 you arent going well. I waited for you to come and see me at the last game at EF but of course being the keyboard warrior you are , not enough balls to front me.
From your last post you again made reference to former Directors being sacked, yet I mad further enquiries this week and that did not happen, well not in the last 10 years at least. So come up with some facts, I keep asking for facts but you have none.
I sent you copies of the Annual report that stated that the Board in which you have such great faith failed to invoice $180k for the Comminications tower and if they had done so we would have had funds earlier, but again you ignored the facts.
Harding and Smart are duds, that is why we have wandered sround in the wilderness for 10 years and our incompetent Board did nothing.
So Marley, put up some facts.
