It's time we changed our political system like the American system. If that means we become a republic so be it. That way, they can all run against each other to be the nominee to run for government and President of Australia and it is US who decides who leads the country NOT the selfish parties and ambitious self centred individuals. And then our President can run a maximum of two terms so there is a guarantee of a handover in the top job.

Are you bonkers,...stuff that, imagine being stuck with Gillard for 6 years.

Dullard would never have got elected in the first place. She only got in because her party knifed the one we voted for, went up against the hard to like Abbott and did a deal with the devil to form government. Have you forgotten?

Under a Republic system if Rudd was the elected head of state I believe we would have been better off. He and his party would have no choice but to work together and run the country instead of being pre occupied with polls and backstabbing each other to change Prime Minister which has set Australia on a farcical trend that makes a mockery of the country.

What other country can you name that changes its leaders with such predictable regularity? We are so good at it we end up the butt of jokes on late night television internationally.

Italy.

Rudd was a raving nutter as well, and anyway Gillard won an election ( well sort of ) in her own right.

Our Westminster system is vastly superior, we don't want a US style presidential system here in a million years.

All we need is a perhaps the party membership voting on a leader of a party rather than the party room alone.

You are correct bazza. There will be at least one corpse and quite possibly two corpse floating proverbially on Lake Burley Griffin by 5 pm EST today. Probably Turnbull and I reckon 65-35 Dutton as well.

David Speers has suggested that if Desperate Dutton wins there will be an immediate election called. If that was to happen then the week after the NRL and AFL finals looks like the date of the election.

Turnbull will hang on - I reckon Duttons numbers have collapsed , the blokes a goose, his first policy announcement was to remove the GST on Power, thats a labor policy that they never actually did , roll back the GST a $7 billion black hole, what a total goose. Forget WA GST if that fantasy ever happens.

Every Liberal State branch bar Qeensland have walked away from Dutton in last 24 hours.

Talking about geese what a train wreck Craig Kelly's interview on Sky News just a moment or so again.

Cormann, Fifield and Cash to hold a press conference in 5 or so minutes time.
