Not making much sense there Freeze, trying to control NZ and WA would be a far bigger challenge, WA was populations spread out all over the place, remote communities and vulnerable Aborginal communities, WA has to contend with huge logistics from Broome to Esperance and beyond, borders with spread out over massive distances.

WA also had far bigger problems than Vic, we had 5 Cruise Ships at one stage in Fremantle, an infected Sheep carrier with crew..Vic never had that, and thank fark they didnt give the way they have stuffed up the simple things.

Daniels and his incompetent admin decided to do thing different to other states.

private security at quarantine hotels with no police or adf supervision although it was offered. the quarantine proved flawed and people were leaving and spreading the virus,

had less than half the staff NSW had on track and trace

let 30% of overseas arrivals leave and go home with no compulsory testing

decided to leave the states borders open

But he did ban golf...

Another thing to consider is NSW and the Ruby Princess, it was a huge mistake early, but consider that 2700 passengers disembarked from an infected ship , yet the NSW Health Department and Police were able to track trace and contain them far quicker and more effectively resulting in much smaller numbers than Victoria.

Lol Freeze the Vics have made a complete schamozzle of the whole Covid-19 lockdown response.
They have over 1.5 million less residents than NSW and yet have OVER 3 times more cases and way more deaths than the other 7 States and Territories combined and that is even after the initial Ruby Princess fiasco at Circular Quay.
Having family and friends and work colleagues over there who have done the right thing I do have some sympathy for them but from what I have been told it is probably not a surprise there has been such a dramatic second wave as so many people were not doing the right thing during the first lockdown phase and then Andrews went to Phase 4 restrictions well before the situation was at hand over there and shouted from the rooftops at one of his June press conferences how he was allowing more too open up than the other States were....yeah well that went well didnt it Dan!

You could not make up how badly they have done this

Just consider, he had the hardest longest initial lock down of all the states, one of the few to close schools and all outdoor activity like golf...yet they have ended up with the biggest diaster.

Andrews was all about the public stuff showboat big note and never about the detail back of shop , the real important thing is to get your admin. and compliance right.

Vic Health was dysfunctional, his Quarantine Security was crap, Vic police were inempt when tested. and that is what does the damage.

Southerner they where saying last week.1 out of 5 who the police visited to see they where in quarantine. Where not home ,out somewhere spreading the virus.

I agree South, he should of gone harder about 2 weeks ago at least, seems to me he dithered for popularity reasons on the harder lockdown, and lost a heap of time.

This "inquiry" he has set up on the botched security is really starting to stink to high hell as well, its now been announced that not a single minister will be required to give evidence at it and it will be a whole 40 DAYS from the start to when the first witness gives evidence...if this isnt a cover up don't know what is.

Bazza correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the retired judge who's heading up this so called inquiry one of Covid-Dan's old lefty mates? Wasn't it a case that one of the ministers or a close associate of a minister owned the private security company that has caused a lot of the initial spread from the tower blocks? Surely some parts of the non ABC media will get stuck into what appears to be a potential whitewash.

South Australia has tightened restrictions after two new cases, one a close contact and they fear community spread. At home gatherings will be reduced from 50 to 10 and pubs and restaurants will only be allowed to serve alcohol to those who are seated.

This further justifies McGowan's stance on creating a bubble with "safe states".
