Well deserved victory by Aust.....may have got lucky with no Bumrah today, but geez just goes to show how reliant India were on the guy for his wickets.....only a matter of time his body was going to fall apart.

Agree with BH re Webster, long overdue selection, hopefully that will encourage more adventurous selections in the future....not sure Webster is an example of ushering in the next generation, at 31 years of age, he just deserved a crack.....

Apparently Kuhnemann and Handscomb look likely SL travellers....hopefully Connolly gets a look in.....but I guess that would be one step too far the Aust selectors.....one can only hope.....no more Starc for 5 tests on the trot please....just rotate the farking bowlers please

Connelly wont get a look in because he lives on the wrong side of the country. They must have sweated long and hard over Websters selection given he's not from the "big 3" states.

Freeze, spot on regarding India being a one trick bowling pony whereas we had 3/4 good solid pace bowlers where at least 1 popped up to take 4+ wickets. Boland was nearly on a par with Bumrush with 20 wickets from just 3 tests, he will be a weapon against the Pommes and will be a first pick going forward.

Cummins captaincy was very good given the team was under huge pressure at times in every test but he and the team never lost their cool, apart from the Perth test where they were pretty underdone.

Had a look at a couple of online chats and the munchers have quickly turned on Virusrat, "too combative, well past his prime, not playing in the true spirit etc etc" Ya just gotta smile

Lance Morris would have been more than a handful on that track but with Paddy running the show, no chance of his bowling mates missing out.

I have only watched a couple of games this season because Lance Morris was playing in them - both times he belted in spells reaching the 148kmh as an average speed , duly some balls were over the 150kmh easily
but his treatment by the selectors has been nothing short of shit to be honest - this is a rare talent who can terrorise batsmen with sheer brute pace & bounce

Agree Southy. I think there will also be several other fast bowlers who will miss out completely on test experience because the selectors don't have the foresight to rotate quicks throughout a series.

The sight of Starc struggling with a back injury in Sydney made it even more obvious that they should give incumbents a rest to help prolong their careers, but also develop a conga line of quicks to take over when the time comes.

Boland had a terrific test but at 35, surely they could have given someone else a go.

well Bozoley & his blinkered mate Duddemaide will see a quintet of Rabada , Nortje , Jansen , Maphaka & Bosch among others who will seriously depthcharge our Grandfathers in June BC
I am a bit stunned at how much our selector base has badly deteriorated to the point where our cricket is a totally closed affair where no-one gets a look in unless you're either a NSW wanker or a Victorian cockhead

BC, sadly at 35, Boland's body seems more 5 day trustworthy than younger fast bowling bods in Richardson, Morris, Bartlett, Johnson and even Paris.

In a one off WTC test, of course the Aussie selectors are going to roll out the likes of Starc, Hazlewood, and Boland.....cant see any bowling changes bar injury TBH.....frustrating yes, but a fact of life.

Freez, that's because Boland only played 3 tests. You can't tell me that in a 5 test series, Starc, Hazlewood and even Cummins couldn't have been rested for a test each and the likes of Morris, Richo and say Abbot couldn't have stepped into the frame.

The whole structure needs to be looked at so when we have a home Test series such as the one just completed, Sheffield Shield should go on as well and replacement players for the Test team get some decent 4 day action before being elevated.

For Richo and Morris to sit in the sheds for a couple of months and only be released to play the odd Shield or BBL game is nonsense. Geoff Lawson made the same point this week that these guys lose match fitness and if/when eventually called up, are prone to injury because they haven't played enough cricket.

Totally agree BC....I am all for more Shield cricket running alongside a test series and rotation of the bowlers, makes perfect sense. Starc should of bailed out after Brisbane, bringing in Richo, Paris, Morris or Bartlett.

Problem is Aust has only lost one red ball series out of 11 under Paddy, so on their thinking, why change a winning formula....but succession definitely needs to happen and fast.....
