In regards to the crowd, the idiots involved must be banned. What an embarrassment. Freo must respond immediately . As for talk of a choke, I think they just got rolled by a better team. Freo, with the rest, should have ran over them. Their skills & composure at the crucial times were average. They have forwards playing for kicks all the time, bloody dumb. Played too many injured and old players. Fyfe was great but he wasn't effective under duress, Pav is great but he didn't add any value, and a few others are over rated. At least 4 Freo players I wouldn't even have them in Norths side to be truthful. I think it's time they rid this negating game plan and follow modern methods like Hawthorn & West Coast find that balance of attack/defend. Not defend/defend/half attack. All clubs need to do it like that. Melbourne especially. Freo have players who can score, but Lyons style doesn't allow it. It's a flaw he can't seem to accept. It hasn't got Freo anywhere and it won't, not these days.

Bit unfair to say Lyon doesn't accept the need for change, he has openly said they need some key players in attack and the club has tried to attract some without success. Since he has been at the club we have tried to get these players but so far without success. At the same time the club has had its most successful period by far and this will continue with maybe a little dip next year. Time for Lyon criticism is if the club is in decline in say 4 - 5 years when his list selections have matured. He has taken an average list to a grand final and finals each year.

But I have never seen a side finish on top with a 17-5 record, and then have a percentage of just 118%. That is a problem and in the end it hasn't worked. Can't ignore the bear in the room.

I know you cant go back in time and our recruiting department has done pretty well in recent years but one does wander what could have happened if we picked Rory Sloane over Zac Clarke, Luke Breust over Hamish Shepheard, Ben Stratton over Joel Houghton, Taylor Duryea over Jesse Crichton, Dylan Roberton or Justin Bollenhagen, Jack Darling over Jayden Pitt, Tom McDonald over Viv Michie, Paul Seedsman over Josh Mellington, Luke Dahlhaus over Gavin Roberts, Jeremy McGovern over Nick Lower, Bradley Hill over Alex Forster and Brodie Grundy over Justin Simpson.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hopefully we can get some decent key position players in the next draft or two.

I think we both almost agree except I think he has been trying to improve the scoring, which at times, has worked, but longer term another key forward is needed and Freo have certainly been trying to get one. Youre right that Freo need to score more as well as constricting, I think everyone including Lyon acknowledge that fact.
If they still can't get one then the other option is another good mid and Fyfe forward which is I think is what Lyon has already said. cheers

What a waste of a topic. Most replies have nothing to do with this topic. Most cant seem to follow a topic. Just want to vent their anger as their team isn't in the Grand Final.
I believe Hawthorn will win unless the Eagles play like Hawthorn do. Take out Hodge & Mitchell very early. Similar to what the Hawks do. Then Eagles will win.
