If the Fremantle vs Adelaide game is the supposed "elite level football" then give me WAFL, Ammos, Country footy every day of the week!
Absolutely appalling standard is being kind.

BH Apparently the game was beamed in to a prime time sports station in the US, so there goes the American market. Most of the AFL footy I have tried to watch over the past 3 weeks has seen me last one quarter and turn the off switch in complete boredom. Clarkson was certainly on the money with his comments. The current standard of AFL ( and umpiring) is right at the bottom of the barrel. I watched the last quarter of the Collingwood V Essendon game on Friday night which was a reasonable contest but in the middle of this was possibly the worst umpiring decision I have ever seen, a so called "dangerous tackle call" which gifted Collingwood a goal. Dreadful.

I see Aussies have taken to social media to apologise to the Yanks for the standard of that game. What was Dill thinking? 2 teams that haven’t won a game on prime time American TV?

I despair when I see what our great game has been reduced to. I know we bang on about the great WAFL era of the 1970s and 80s but the VFL was also a fantastic competition with the Sunday night show "The winners" being beamed in to WA every week. High marks, long goals, one on one contests and fast play on football. None of this kicking backwards and zone stuff that blights our game so much now.

One suggestion that has caught my eye in the discussion is the awarding of bonus premiership points to teams that score say 100 points or more in a given game. So say if the Eagles win a game and also score 100 points they would earn 5 premiership points for this match. Even a team that is losing but scores 100 points would earn a premiership point from the game. This would encourage coaches to take on board more attacking strategies in order to score more goals and would make the games more high scoring and interesting to watch.

These extra points could also make the difference when it comes to finals places. You could even add more points if a team scores 120, 140 or 160 although these scores have been rare in recent years.

Radical I know but anything has to be worth a try to change the horse shit we are watching at the moment.

What a laughable joke Whately & co at Fox Footy are!
You would think no afl club has been in a hub as yet with their sooky carry on that the vfl teams now have to leave Covid City, someone from the healthy states should tap these Vic flogs on the shoulder and let them know WA & SA teams have been hubbing it in QLD for over a month now!
