Excellent strono...I hope Peter Capes does the same. My last word on this is that if at season's end only one or two draftees actually gets to play in the AFL then I hope everyone sees this for what it is...another no risk player grab by big brother at the expense of state leagues given there's no compensation and it goes back into the basket of great ideas that didn't work.

Totally agree here. We seem to just bend over and accept anything put up by the AFL without any protest or regard for the integrity of the WAFL competition. Time to stand up for our competition WAFL people!

Integrity?
Sadly the integrity of the Wafl was lost and got thrown under the bus years ago! :(

the afl's draft bloke Kevin Sheehan was on sportfm the other day and was asked about financial compensation to WAFL clubs who lose players in this draft, his repsonse was funding is given to the WAFC each year from the AFL and it is up to them what they do with it so we know why the WAFC is quiet, they would then have to explain where their funding is going.

I'd say a decent chunk of it would go on salaries and fringe benefits to people like Taylor who I'd like to point out qualifies to run footy in WA because he's managed a gym and a couple of council leisure centres, owned a restaurant in Myaree, worked at Domain stadium and had something to do with Optus Stadium....oh...and apparently he has an MBA. Well, I've followed and been engaged with the WAFL for over half a century and also have an MBA but don't think I'm qualified to be CEO of the WAFC and neither is Taylor imo.

So the falsely stated intent of the mid season rape of state leagues was to replace specific players who have retired during the season or have long term (season ending) injuries.
If that is the case then the state leagues need to push the following clarifications of the rules.
- The player retiring or injured must show proof of such via contract documents or medical certificates.
- The club in question must show proof that a similar player from their reserves or aligned team does not exist.
- Only players of a similar type to the retiring or injured player can be recruited from state leagues, ie a ruckman for a ruckman, a mid for a mid etc etc.
- A recruited state league player must have played a minimum of 18 (equivalent to 1 full season) league games.
- The state league club receives a one off payment of $5000 for a player 18-50 games, $7500 for a player 50-100 games, $10000 for a player over 100 games.
- If the player does not play in the AFL clubs finals they are automatically cleared back to their club of origin if that club is playing finals. the AFL club retains responsibility for injury rehab costs and other medical costs.

something like this will stop the obvious scamming of the mid season draft that is currently happening.

This idea that the AFL has covered the clubs loss of players via their general financial support is complete rubbish. It does not address the direct costs incurred by that particular club due to the development of that player. If, as they say it is covered by money given to the WAFC, then it is the WAFC that should reimburse the club.

brand AFL funding comes with a document that contains a complicit price tag - the price last year was the Colts being taken

and what was the price this year ?

midseason player stock for nothing

I put it too u all that u are in denial and full of shit until one of u can put forward the percentage of time a deluca, mayo or O'Riley has spent their football life at a Wafl club. Juniors are volunteer run and club funded, development sides are wafc funded. These footballers have spent less then 5% of their football life at a Wafl club.

Funny much?

Wafl clubs want to cash in for where a kid grew up.

Sportstg will show the data I am talking about.

Nice work tuggers...I'm not sure who you support in the WAFL but given Subi now has 2 spots available on its senior list, I reckon Subi should target the best 2 players at your club and get them across without any compensation because they've only spend less than 5% of their time at you club...sounds fair enough to me.
