Excellent article BC, and how he points out the glaring difference between the limp wristed AFL sycophants that run the WAFC compared to the loud and proud independant SANFL who actua;lly value their historic state league and actually support and promote it. The WAFC are a disgrace.

I may be wrong but by my reading of the rule if Freo makes the AFL finals he is a Peel player and if they don't he is a EF player. Once more we have had the opportunity to compare and contrast the SANFLs strong response to the attack on its state leagues with the sycophantic WAFC non reaction. At the very least Subiaco, East Fremantle and South Fremantle should have received significant financial compensation for the loss of key players.

I thought the draft was about fixing unfairness in their competion? Obviously it has worked, so there going to have another draft where ST Kilds have drafted a Subi reserves player. Yep, it is really good standarthe AFL, but, they have people conned every week.

As I mentioned on this thread before...according to the AFL the midseason draft is supposed to be an opportunity for AFL clubs to plug holes in their lists due to long term injury and/or retirements. i.e to take ready made players who can make their club better. I can almost understand an underperforming Carlton wanting to beef up its midfield by taking someone who's been in the system before and is performing at a high level in a state league like Deluca. But O'Reilly to the Dockers and Mayo to St Kilda are development players who've been picked up for the long term future and so no-one else can get them at a later date. FMD...Mayo has played 2 league games and was in colts last year....so he's hardly going to fill in any gaps this year...it's all bullshit.

Was listening to a bit about this on SEN.They are saying this is a gap stop for the Afl.And they want it to be in 2020 a proper draft between All clubs. As an example Essendon have lost Joe Danaher for the season.They might try and draft a player like Josh Jenkins who is playing reserves for the Crows.And kicked 6 goals last Sanfl game.
The difference between the Sanfl+Wafl is no footy people want to stick up for the Wafl clubs.Just to scared to upset the Eagles+Dockers.But in SA Graeme Cornes has been blasting the Afl for weeks.About clubs being left high +dry aka Subi.Cornes doesn't care what the Afl+Crows+Port think about his comments.

If it's good enough for the SANFL to be up in arms about it plus commentators like Cornes and journos such as Townsend, where's the limp wristed WAFC when you need them. I would also have thought my club, Souths and Easts to have made statements of disapproval as well.
