as a not for profit sporting club they don't get audited unless it's a requirement by the WAFC which I'm not sure it is but will stand corrected if it is the case. it's also my understanding that the debts weren't on the books so any amount of audits would not have picked it up which brings me to my next questions...what in the hell did they blow $600k on they didn't go through their balance sheet or P&L?

Mate all the clubs have to have an annual audit ever financial year, see section 69 Incorporated associations act 2015 ,its a 2750 fine if they dont.

yep...fair enough...WP would meet the revenue threshold of a tier 3 association but it doesn't mean a whole lot when it's off the books. I'd be really interested to know what they've blown their $ on.

Spot on, that in itself is a breach of the act. But someone has burnt up a lot of dough...

I also recall they were in the shit a few years ago for lodging an incorrect return to the WAFC and blamed an office girl for an admin error. I thought at the time why was an office girl preparing something like that and why wasn't it reviewed and checked before lodging? maybe that was the start...who knows?

What... Because some of us are educated on the financial diligence the WAFC undertakes to do there utmost to ensure wafl clubs are solvent to catch issues like this before they get out of hand???
