We know WP have had a raw deal up there for a long time because they had no control over their club rooms. Basically they didn't have any which has restricted their revenue stream. Now they have their own club facilities the money will be flowing in so now is not the time to abandon them. I'm pretty sure they received grants similar to what Peel received to build new facilities.

The WAFC will need to give them a loan and give them 10 years to pay it off. They are the only WAFL club to move to a growth area. What message would that send if the WAFC allowed them to fold?

What it does show is that the WAFC's encouragement of clubs going into new areas - ie Peel and West Perth - might well be good for producing fodder for the AFL, but is not necessarily good for the clubs themselves.

The WAFC does indeed need to clean up it's mess (again) - but it just goes to show that steps to produce the AFL fodder is bad business for the WAFL.

Lets not forget the move to Joondalup was entirely a decision of the board of the West Perth Football Club, who knew what the situation was going to be at the new ground, they walked away from very good facilities against the wishes of a very vocal internal opposition group which I'm sure Bill Dempsey was the lead opponent. It was them that decided to move, not the WAFC.

I am seriously starting to wonder if this is going to be our last year..1885-2018, I know they are having some type of meeting today that will decide our future, depressing stuff for us who have followed the club their whole life to end like this....in a year the league team is doing so well as well..

I'd be very surprised if that happens Falcon as McHenry has stated the club won't fold. It sounds though, financial governance has been sadly lacking and the WAFC will want assurances that things have changed. I'm interested as to what the debt relates to considering it's not on the books.

I would be very surprised if the doors close totally, Falcon, as BC says there is a life line there, ( then again I have not seen the books ) what could happen however is a set of conditions for the club to survive in some form long term and that could mean a merger or maybe some other outcome, as the a alignment or Eagles reserves, it just depends what's put on the table.
