Great to see Luke Jackson from the U/18 state team heading off to Argentina to play in the Basketball world cup this weekend....great of Sumich to give the kid a couple of games in the carnival and still get an opportunity to represent his country playing basketball.... mid footy carnival.....amazing to think the kid is only 16, played no colts footy, but has shown he is right up there with Aust elite junior ruckman......common sense approach here enabling the kid time to decide his future.....I guess this "player first" strategy does have its positives eh boys?

It is quite amazing how inane some of your comments are. Sumich has ABSOLUTELY NO SAY in what the person you mentioned in your above post on whether that player and his parents choose to do in his life. Whilst the AFL may think that they are above the law and are all-powerful Sumich et al have absolutely no ability from preventing the player in question from playing another sport.

If he chooses to play basketball ahead of football good luck to the kid Freez .
A very talented 17 year old that has been a standout in the 18s carnival thus far.
Compliments to the State Academy including Suma for playing the kid to assist him and his family make the very tough decision to choose which sporting career path he will take.
Great young talent.

Inane?...Surely as coach Sumich would of had some jurisdiction in whether Jackson should play in the footy carnival 42, knowing the kid would only be available for half the carnival....from a team first perspective how unsettling and productive is that?.....by adopting a player first approach they allowed a kid to test his abilities for a sport against the elite.....without even playing a colts game....how many players in that squad HAVE NOT played a single colts game.....so good to see the player first approach being used to help a genuine talent formulate a decision.....Inane..naaagh you are just being all insular and blacknwhite again.....LOL

WA 18s take on the VIC Country 18s at Kardinia Park at 2.30 (WA time) this arvo.
Both sides are winless going into the clash.

Well done to Jarrod Cameron on his 5 goals and WA winning.....yes winning...... a game in this year's carnival.....last two performances have been a vast improvement on the opening game v SA.....finish off with a win v Allies next week and WA will finish 3rd.....obviously winning the carnival would be preferred, but after that shellacking v SA, 3rd spot would of been considered impossible....

WA u/18s finish off the series with a tight win over the Allies....finish 2/2.....and 3rd overall....not a bad effort after that initial SA hammering.....fair reflection of the side I guess....couple of guys have jumped into draft calculation such as Clark(Cl), Foley(Subi) and English (Perth)....whilst already talked about draftees in Hill & Stack(Perth), O'Reilly(EF) and Cameron(SD) strengthened their claims.....

No doubt the Vic M and SA boys will dominate the first round picks....should be a cracking game between them today....winner takes all....

Yep good finish to the WA 18s carnival getting over Vic Country at Kardinia Park (SD's Jarrod Cameron booting 5 goals) and today just getting ovet the Allies (Best boys from TAS, NSW, QLD, NT & ACT combined) at Etihad Stadium after a poor start to the championships against the top rated SA & VIC Metro respectively.
The WA 16s boys play up in QLD next Monday & Friday.

Gee that SA 18s side is very good. Rankine, Lukosius, Valente et al are deadset stars of the future. Have SA adopted the Vic pathway model?

Who knows BH....but if those 3 are as dead set stars as you say....any team they are in would be good no matter what model of development is used.....interest in to see where Lukosius is in a few years time.....Considering the likes of Patton, Boyd, Schache and McCartin of late are all still finding their way after 4+ years in the system....sometimes these carnivals can be quite deceiving......
