I thought that the WAFC allocated the same $ to each club which included the Colts coach and the Talent Manager who spent the money on the resources that they wanted (so not paid for by the clubs out of their own revenue). Not that every club will use it the same way. Presumably if Swans don't have a talent manager they don't get case instead.

I thought 42 said SDFC no longer had a colts team affiliated to the club under the new AFL run colts comp.....I see EF still have their colts side with Jacob Brennan the coach....Brennan is also in attendance to EF league games....perhaps he is eyeing off Robbie's job.....have other WAFL clubs lost their colts sides like SD have?.....

Factor Opinion - you said clubs have a welfare officer, now you say you dont know if clubs
have one ?
do they have them or not ?
and how does Swans operate if they dont have a talent manager ? you seem to know a lot about how the system works.

The recently appointed but now former SD Talent Manager jumped ship to the West Coast Eagles Reserves side as their FM only 5 minutes into this season, how is that SD fault?

A better performance at home (Perth Stadium) yesterday by the WA boys but we still went down to Vic Metro by 18 points.
The big V key forward King proved probably the difference in the end.
WA now travel east again to take on Vic Country & the Allies in a couple of weeks time.

Yep very true BH.....these goliaths at this age group seem to do a lot of damage....saying that will Max King be another Schache, McCartin, Boyd, Moore, Wright, McKay x2 etc.when they get drafted top ten.....then take forever to develop....if they even do......once again Sam Taylor would of been handy v King yesterday.....be interesting to see the VM v SA game....gotta feeling SA might go all the way considering they beat WA with more ease than VM did.

From an EF perspective good to see Sharp, O'Reilly and Jackson have good games....might need all 3 in the league side TBH.....did u go BH...if you did how did the SD boys go?

lots of stuff abt the development process pro's and cons on here but I think it is all about the ebbs and flows of what is out there! In all my years involved i have seen some years where WA produced 10 or 12 really talented players capable of playing at a high level following colts or 18's and in other years 3 or 4.

The new system has changed nothing other than a consistent approach and I think a consistent amount of funding which is used to fund various positions - it will have DIDDLY SQUAT impact on the bad years (silk purses and sows ears).

I am lead to believe that next years 16's is a good one and that will flow on into the 18's and then into the WAFL and perhaps mature aged recruitment.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Yes went down to PS for a look, Ben King looks a bit more mobile and taller/slimmer than those other gorillas were at the same age Freeze but time will tell I guess.
SD boys Wilson (back pocket) & Cameron (wing) both played ok whilst Garcia was very unfortunately injured.
Another with a SD connection O'Reilly looked dangerous up forward out bodying Silvagni a couple of times for strong marks in the wet and windy conditions but he was also playing in the ruck as a chop out for Jackson would have been nice if we could have left him forward like VM could with King. Hill is all class when he has the footy in his hands he has speed to burn.

WA lose their first match of the State 16s against SA by a kick.
So far neither side (18s or 16s) has managed to win a game in their respective championships.

What a glowing endorsement of the changes made by the WAFC. Of course, there are no key performance indicators that will be used to measure the success or FAILURE of the changes made. No-one will face the consequences of the decisions made.

Notwithstanding Grump's comment that things are cyclical in nature: some good years and some bad years; one would have thought that having a vibrant WAFL league competition feeds down to the lower WAFL grades (dare one say trickle down economics style) that would ensure greater standards of junior players and draft picks.
