It's a really hard decision who to vote for, the devil you know or the devil you don't know.

The Lib's preference deal with ON is about as distasteful as the long standing Greens/Labor coalition.

SS I don't need to declare that I am a Labor Party supporter I would point out that Barnett said he doesn't know the One Nation's policies and he doesn't care; yet he was the one to agree to the One Nation preference deal.

Swan being tne rusted on ALP fanatic that you are I would be careful accusing otners of not checking policy and manesfestos, as you clearly have not checked your own mobs, before I posted about plans for state debt I took the trouble to examine the State ALP election website on the issue, and BC is correct, all those Roe 8 funds are diverted to 4 I think clearly nominated road projects, sites given, and thsts if he gets it, which is directly contrary to what the Federal govt is saying...further some 20 Million will be allocated to consultants to prepare for a new Container Port at Kwinana. The only plan he has for state debt is the crack pot iron ore formula BC has outlined...its basically hopeless, unless he massively cuts the public sector or moves to asset sales its not going to happen. How much more staff will the PTA need to run Metronet..it will run into hundreds. Its like bloody Disneyland.

Bazza germaine to a discussion about economic management is a fair and balanced analysis of how well the Barnett's Government has done thus far in managing debt. How well has Barnett done in managing debt thus far?

Look there have been things I have been happy with and some things I have been very UNHAPPY with as far as Barnett goes. It is time for a change.

As you may have gathered Swan I will NOT be voting State Liberal this time around which is the first time since the WA Inc disaster I have not done so, please note however I will not be voting ALP either, as I have not voted for them since the same episode and on principal still will not do so UNTIL they prove they deserve it. McGowan will get that chance over the next 4 years - maybe he will, but so far I have seen zero indication he has the plans or ability to implement any major debt reductions, economic reforms or change required to move us forward.

Btw I will be most likely voting Independent or one of the minor parties, I want to send a personal message to my local member Barnett that Roe 8 is a insult to the people of his electorate. the Greens always go LAST for me and idiot ville Grylls Nationals will not be far behind in both houses. One Nation will be well ahead of both of them but most likely not First.

Anyway back to Mcgowans plans or lack of them???

Bazza whether you put Labor or Liberal 1st and 2nd or second last or last in the Legislative Assembly it comes down to which one is placed in front of the other. With respect to improving the rail network and public transport in general. If as is projected we will have a population in excess of 3 million in the not too distant future we need to ensure that we have the public infrastructure to handle this population. Obviously the entire Metronet plan cannot be implemented in one term; but the planning will be able to ensure that we have the rail network we need over the next 10-20 years. As I mentioned there will be Federal money moved from the cancelled Roe 8 project into investing in the Metronet project.

I agree with everything you say Bazza except Roe 8. If you read the letter by a former Deputy Chairman of Freo Ports I think it was in the West, he clearly stated the inner harbour will be sufficient until 2035, plans are currently underway to address the bottleneck at Stirling Bridge, a new outer harbour will cost $6b and will only take up overflow cargo from Freo port anyway and for a potential Labor government to scrap it against the advice of Infrastructure Australia to appease a few ferals is a joke. It is needed to fix traffic problems in the southern suburbs and if we upset the nesting habits of the double breasted mattress thrasher or the breeding grounds of the wide mouthed caterpillar then so be it.

Think we have been here before, FPA , gives it 10 - 20 years max, even at that 20 yrs is poor value for a road at this expense, and even then pumping 20 times more traffic into the already shambolic North Freo is just madness, equally mad is then trying to funnel it up Curtin Ave...

A few ferals not all though, a lady in her 70s who lives next door to my mum in a local area which will be heavily impacted by roe 8 has been going down every day, she is very upset about it, this is a 70 yr old ordinary lady who has worked hard all her life, still does has a Nursing Home Cook. Very nice person who is rightfully worried about her community.

Fixing Traffic - only thing that will do that is moving the Port and the ALP has that on the table and I am 100% with them as its shows long term real solutions, Roe 8 is a joke.

As for Wide Mouthed Caterpillars - not sure about that , but I know this area pretty well from being a kid and spending pretty much every weekend it was was then bushland., never saw one mate..lol what I do know is there was a massive abundance of Black Cockies back in the 70s and now there are SFA so Im with the Black Cockies on this one. Call me a greenie of you like but at least Im a real one , I care about the bush and not a bunch of bums highjacking our immigration system..Anyway time for cheese sanger mate.

fair enough mate...we'll just have to agree to disagree. it'll be interesting to see what sneakers does if MT pulls funding and uses the Infrastructure Australia report as an excuse. given the parlous nature of the national economy it would make sense to divert it elsewhere if Roe 8 doesn't go ahead especially with a new Labor govt in power over here. on another note, what's your views on the wave park in Alfred Cove? i'm nearby in Attadale but far enough away so it won't impact on me but it's an odd place to put it given there's only one way in and out and very little public transport other than buses down Canning Hwy. there's also the matter of a bird sanctuary and wetland within a 100 meters or so...I'd hate to be living right next to it during construction and when it becomes operational that's for sure...

Yeah, The Wave Park - Sister lives in Melville and went to the residents meeting, she said the locals are pretty hostile about it, for me I don't know enough about it, but I agree looking at it I first thought, that's a bloody odd place to put something like that, tbh mate the first thing I thought of was it being a bit of a bogan magnet, and not really ideal for the area, transport an issue and the sanctuary another, I used to live in Ardross and would ride my bike along there and it was a really pleasant peaceful area, cant see this really fitting in at all.

Just back to the Port - Barney just announced a heap of money to re locate live export to a new port at Kwinana..jeez there might be a clue in that for him, if he gave a firm commitment to a new port in Freo I would change my vote back to Libs in a flash, Do you remember when Barnett first came to power his policy was t move Freo Container Port to Kwinana, O'Brien was the transport minister, but it ground to a hault. Went for a walk near Freshwater Bay last night and got chatting to a neighbour and said what do you reckon about Barnett? She started going nuts about Roe 8 stuffing up Curtin Ave, if that's any indication Barney can expect a swing against him in Cott. Anyway time will tell!
