Club legend at Swan Valley ... lucky to have known him since he returned from the VFl. Coached our club to a couple flags, easily one of the clubs best players and a class above. Use to call him which foot williams as no one knew which was his preferred foot such was his skill level.

Got any of my favourite player when I was growing up ... Brent Hutton! Listed as wearing number 9 but thought he wore 10 for a while too.

Finally I have time to put a few photographs up. Obviously a strong Black and White bias, but plenty for supporters of other clubs.

Grand Final 1980. The only reason I got this from the West was because the original had my mate and I in the left hand corner - but when the photograph arrived in the mail we'd been cropped out! Seems like yesterday and the facial expressions tell the story. Michael, Hoyer, Hardie and Skwirowski behind Hardie.

Grand Final 1962 again, this time Keith Slater up against an unknown EF opponent. Ray Sorrell in the right background, and is that Bob Johnson or, gosh, Percy on the left with his hand up to his eyes?

Finally, a real oldy. SD vs Claremont at Subiaco 9 July 1949. The Swans' players are Vin Zani (I will take a leaf from anchorman's book in another post and state clearly that he was from Boulder and not Kalgoorlie), Jack Murray in his final year of football, unknown kicking the football, Bob Lowry and George King.

Swans wore this quernsey in 1949, 1950 and 1951. I do not mind it...

Thanks for clarifying anchorman regarding Vin. He did not play long at Swans, but the club recognised his skill with the skipper's position in 1950.

I was unaware that Les Varis was from the goldfields. I remember him playing a pivotal role in the Shield successes in the early 70s
