I may be wrong but 2 things im sure won't happen and that's Blight won't play league if he does play and Elari won't play reserves if he does play.

So I was wrong alright!
Blight must have been running some huge k's to come in straight up and play a full game. He was very important today.
Elari was clearly the best player on the field in the ressies and will come in next week. He must have been out for disciplinary reason.

We were far from perfect today but what a great win! I love heading down knowing that we are always up for the fight even if we are having an off day!
We dominated much of the general play but our skill execution was horrendous and hence some of their goals were scored on the turnover. They also got 4 goals from kick ins which im sure will be addressed during the weeker had to work overtime for our goals and 9 from 47 entries says a lot about our ball movement.
We will need to sharpen up if we are to make the 5!

Hopefully Howard is ok and we will see Ugle back next week as well.

McKay , Nuich & Coniglio received the awards from coach in ressies MD....Elari not mentioned. McKay had 37 disposals, Elari 34 and Coniglio 25. Obviously not in the good books at the moment . Nuich attempts at a speech abysmal. Maybe Percy can work on that with him during the week.

Notte, Riggio, Riddoch and Jesse Turner singled out for awards in the ones.

Glad to get the 4 points but we did not play well today especially our ball use. The back 6 were again our saviour plus a couple of goal of the year contenders from Rudy and yet another specky from Tony.

Yeh fully agree mate! Also to highlight his quality Tony has more marks than any other player in the comp with 108 and the next best tall isnt near him I dont rate the other guys totals in the top 5 like Black, Cook etc because they rack up uncontested marks out on their own, Tony is a match winner, plus in the last Q Ryan Davis showed why he is the best player in the comp, single handedly took control plus he is the comps leading tackler. Good signs to win another close one considering we were ordinary most of the day
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Well done to all 3 grades for winning their games today and taking another step towards September action for Swans. The league game was very frustrating for most of the afternoon, pretty awful skills wise by both sides on a fine day.

Swans responded to Hardings pump up at 3 quarter time. I was on the out skirts of the huddle and I only heard a little of what he was saying ( mostly the swear words) but he was pretty fired up and he challenged them all to lift which they did, particularly Ryan Davis who led the team well in the last quarter.

Even though we led in most of the stats today it really felt like we pinched the game as they did at Joondalup in April because West Perth were in front for 95% of the contest.

Today was the 7th game of Swans season that has been decided by less than a 2 goal margin. The record now stands at 4 - 3 in Swans favour. Don't know whether my nerves can take too many more of these close games!

Just a few more comments on the Swans players yesterday

Rudy - That game breaking goal was a demonstration of why he has to be in the team every week from now on. He has the ability to be the x factor and do these sort of things that every team needs to win tight games

Blighty - Acquitted himself well for a guy who has been out for 2 months though understandably faded

Wilson - a natural footballer, he made a few blues yesterday which was understandable for a young player but what I liked was his 2nd efforts

Faulkner - A fantastic ball getter who has to be in the team. I reckon his bloopers are partially due to trying to execute his skills in too much of a hurry. I think he should accept he hasnt got the quick hands/ accurate kicking of some of his teammates and take a little extra time before making a decision.

Turner - He looked poised, used the ball well and I certainly think he will play a lot more games this year.

Banfield - I'm in 2 minds about Todd, his stats don't look good but I like his defensive pressure when the opposition have the ball.

Ames - Seems to enjoying his spells in the ruck and up forward and it certainly has given the team another dimension. Hopefully given his age the increased physical load is not having an impact on his body.

Davis - lifted in the last quarter when challenged by Harding and his goal in the early stages of that quarter gave them the impetus they needed.

Notte - Outstanding contested mark. Close to the best in the competition I reckon.

Howard - This guy is a solid defender often flies under the radar but is rarely beaten.

Houghton - I wasn't sure what we were going to get here when we swapped him for Latch but now I am convinced that we got the better end of that deal by a long way. Joel has been a versatile big man and showed a bit of ticker to come back out after being helped off the ground at one stage and then kick a clutch goal in the last quarter.

The club is in a great position at the moment with the competition for places pretty hot given how well how many are playing in the reserves.
