One of those things that happen sometimes. Swans did the same to South Freo at Fremantle last year. There was a moment at around the 20 minute mark of the last quarter where Matt Rogers took a mark about 40 metres out from goal, Swans were 26 points up. Instead of shooting for goal, he tried to centre the ball to a free player closer to goal, however the West Perth players managed to spoil and quickly moved the ball up the ground and scored a goal. This sparked West Perth into action and they virtually got all the clearances from then on.

Swans were obviously spent and there was suddenly heaps of space in the West Perth forward line where there hadn't been all day. I don't know if Harding could have put all 22 players behind the ball to make it difficult for them, maybe they would have still won anyway.

We were still in front when we got a rare counter attack going and Rudy Riddoch took a sliding mark in the forward pocket, but unfortunately he took the mark centimetres over the boundary line and WP got the ball back.

I guess you just have to salute the West Perth players for lifting when it really counted. This will no doubt give them a lot of confidence that they can win games from any position just like it did for Swans at Freo last year

I was right behind the ball when Rudy took the mark, the boundary umpire was miles behind the play and I believe he made a spectators free kick because I believe Rudy marked the ball inside the line.

We should never have been in that position anyway, and full credit to West Perth for flicking on their switch when it mattered most proving once again that even with 5 mins to go a 3-4 goal deficit isn't unattainable if you keep plugging away! The experience of your midfield plus the fact we were down a couple with injury made all the stars align at the right time for West Perth and thus winning a game that they shouldn't have, like when we did the same to South Freo, Perth etc last year and East Freo did to us in the first semi last year aided by the maggots
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

So who is gonna be held accountable for the 4th quarter fade out and game loss?

Point the fingers at the players or at the coach?

Maybe Greg Harding will get another year contract extension for that performance. The game result in the end could come to haunt us in the end when we miss the Top 5.

The 3rd quarter I must say was brilliant, moving Davis onto the ball and Nuich to the forward line bagging 3 goals highlight of the day.

Any chance of Riggio being dropped for a week to Ressies?

A bit harsh don't you think? I know stats can be misleading but he did get 27 possessions and I thought he contributed as much as anyone.

Really MOM? I reckon Riggs has played his best footy since being with us this year so far.

Are you off ya head?!!!
For starters Riggio has been our best and most consistent player so far!
Secondly, you seemingly have a crack at Harding for losing the game yet you applaud the fact that moving Nuo foward was Brilliant. That move was in part was what actually set up,so everyone thought,a match winning lead.
Harding can't be blamed for a skill or decision making error!
There were plenty on the day,it just so happened that one error in particular had a massive bearing on the turn of events.
I've not actually seen 1 kick ever change the course of a match like I did on Monday.

Dead right MD it also didn't help that we had our 2 best clearance players injured on the bench when the carnage was happening late and we had to throw Swoop in the middle.
There were a few skill & decision making mistakes made by both our senior & rookies late that WP were good enough to fully capitalise on.
Unfortunately there is always a couple of Swans fans that look at Harding as the scapegoat whenever we lose but the knowledgeable ones will know we blew it ourselves.

Perhaps MoM wants to drop Ames for his kick in the last quarter!

Anyone know how those guys came out of the game? Notte looked a bit proppy too I thought.
Its almost a case of giving this weekend away if we are too banged up in order to make sure we get the win against Claremont the following week where Banfield and Doc should also be right. At this stage I can see best case being 4-5 after round 10 with a huge home game against the Eagles in round 11 to get the ledger back even.

Paid eight bucks to have some dhead open a can and pour it into a plastic cup, paid a zillion for a shithouse burger with ingredients purchased on Friday (two bites then chucked), I'll pack my own next time I venture to that shithole ...
