Southerner I think you are light on: I expect it will be something in the order of 4 - 6 weeks. If it had been an Eagle it may have been a life ban.

My point of view from an East Perth supporter being ten yards from the incident. Rogers was close to the ball Johnson the bigger man come flying in and slipped or dove at the ball. Rogers was playing the ball until late when he lined Johnson up with the shoulder. Johnson was very brave which no one has acknowledged which left him open to injury and he slipped into the shoulder. Although Rogers has a reputation as a sniper I couldn't give him a penalty in this case. Johnson should have been aware this guy is likely to knock your head off if he gets a chance. Benefit Of the doubt, I suppose you would like to think players aren't trying to cause long lasting physical damage to other footballers. Although some sections of the crowd thought it was a funny incident.

Larry...in saying Johnson slipped or dove for the ball which is all I could see from afar was the potential there in his action to take Rogers legs out from under him as per the Adam Goodes technique for breaking legs? As you stated diving hard at the disputed ball is brave when not done recklessly but is also regarded as incorrect technique under today's rules so might be the thing that saves Rog if he can argue that this slip or dive caused the contact.

Did Johnson dive slip etc without a replay I couldn't comment. It was more side on from Johnson than a front on slide which is dangerous. Evidence of this is Rogers rather broad shoulder to the middle of Pauls face. Some grey areas in this so its hard to see a harsh penalty. I like the way Riddoch played the match a physical player but fair at the same time.

Always try to objective even if this website is mainly for lunatics with no real handle on anything. What is his record like, I have watched him whacking blokes for years in the Perth reserves but does he have many suspensions. Your right there is a certain hysteria when someone is hit high even if it's accidental.

Delivered the best legal and effective shitmixer I have seen since the Danny Penny years in a game last year. From memory has a couple of reports in recent years but memory fails me as to if found guilty. Personally don't see him as a dirty player but does utilise his size well within the rules to create some physical intimidation for the opposition in keeping them honest. Have never witnessed him taking cheap shots and generally puts himself on the line for the team which is what we all expect of players. Can't answer for his years at PFC
